just shown last night and prior (Friday) at the Landmark Sunshine theater in NYC, I of course am in the wrong city to have seen it, but apparently with the new corrected bluray reissue of the movie at the beginning of next month, Sony has created a new DCP of it: question has any seen or read the specs of the DCP; audio wise that is (7.1, Dolby Atmos)?

Couldn't find specs either, but found a forum where a guy who did see it at the Landmark said it looked and sounded phenominal.

The Blu-ray (which I had no idea was coming and immediately pre-ordered thanks to your post) has a Dolby Atmos mix with a 7.1 backup, so I assume the DCP would at least have 7.1.

yeah - that last bluray was disappointing to say the least in terms of PQ. At least this new edition has the great commentary track that was on Criterion's laserdisc edition.

got an answer from Sony Pictures Repertory via Facebook and they stated the DCP is the original 5.1 mix. Interestingly non-Region A bluray releases the sound is DTS-HD MA 5.1 not Dolby 7.1

And the Sunshine is not equipped for Atmos anyway.

I've been disappointed with the last two Atmos releases that I've seen: The Martian and the Mission Impossible movie. I simply did not perceive very much discrete surround and overhead activity.
