I have a 900C projector that when put in standby switches to lamp on mode. The display will read "Standby" AND "Lamp On", however the lamp does not actually come on at that time.

When taken out of standby, the lamp turns on as soon as the projector finishes waking up.

No other 900Cs do this and this one has only recently and consistently developed the issue.

Any thoughts on where to start looking?

That is a configurable setting. While the projector is in Stand By. Press the lamp button on the keypad (as if you were turning it on or off) and the display will change to "Lamp Off". Then the next time you take the projector out of standby, the lamps will remain off until you tell them to turn on.

Yeah, you can think of LAMP ON and LAMP OFF while in standby as it telling you what WILL happen when you start the projector. Perhaps there is a better wording they could squeeze in there.

That's one of the most common home calls I get. NEC needs to have a disable setting for that in the DCC like they do for the key lock.

Indeed, that function is very confusing, not only on the NC900. I remember quite a few questions about it also here on film-tech regarding other NECs as well.
