whe have 2 barcos projectors, the 19B have a UPS for the projector (last about half hour), but not the lamp. the second, 10s, has no UPS at all.

how do you guys deal with power outage? for now we use 2 chronometers to time when the power goes out, and resume playback for each around the black out time.

how do you guys deal with this?

If the power is out for more than about 5-10 minutes, we clear the theatre and then open back up according to the schedule once the power comes back. If the power comes back within that 5-10 minutes, we'll restart the movie a minute or two before the time the power went off.

Fortunately we do not lose power often enough to have a well rehearsed plan for outages. Usually the worst we get is a flicker which is enough to switch off the lamp and kill the sound. In that case we'll make sure all systems are back on-line and 'rewind' the movie a couple minutes.

The servers should come up again at the blackout time or slightly before that automatically. They lead a journal during playout, and that is used to detect when the blackout occured. At least most servers do it that way or offer that function to resume playback after a reboot.

We lose power just often enough that we have a plan in place. Whenever it happens we wait about 10 minutes to see if it comes back on, but if it doesn't, we pass out vouchers for a free movie ticket and apologize for any inconvenience. If power does come back on within 10 minutes we rewind the film about a minute and let it finish as planned, adjusting schedule as needed.

Please note that when you have your server and projector on UPS, it will usually just keep playing until the UPS runs out, whether the lamp was on or not.
