The ingest on the Doremi DCP 2000 at one of the venues I work
at is painfully slow due to the lack of a CRU dock, so all ingest
must be done via USB.

Doremi Tech Support says I can contact "my Doremi dealer" and
install an "e-SATA-INT DCP-315" interface on server (I assume it
would plug into the motherboard) which will allow me to ingest
via the e-SATA port on my CRU sled or e-Sata compatible mini-drives.

So- - anybody have any experience with one of these?;
. . . . or have any idea what they cost?

Very basic cable/slot adaptor. Around 50-60 US$ per Doremi price list. As a matter of fact, you could buy your own for just a few bucks on Amazon or eBay if you'd know what to look for.

There are simple cable and jack things that extend a motherboard SATA connector to an eSATA socket. SATA is not quite the same as eSATA, SATA does not support hot plugging. An active PCI eSATA card will give you a "real" eSATA port. I don't know what the Doremi one is, I have tried the cable type and had some success.

Dave, AFAIK, e-sata and sata uses the same protocol, differences are on connector type, longevity, cable length, and other minor details, but that does not affect hot-plug ability.

sata is hot-swap, and can be used like a e-sata, but with a few precautions. i use my internal sata connectors in my PC the same way as e-sata. eject the drive and re-plug anytime. i also use a e-sata to sata cable, so i can connect hd directly on the e-sata port that my pc also have.

obviously i don't know how it is implemented on this particular machine, but for sure its not a connector limitation
