According to the field bulletin on the NEC website, lamps can be hot swapped by putting the projector into that mode.

"Enter the pass code specified on the operation panel of the NC900C main unit,
and press the "ENTER" key. Pass code entry using DCC is not available.
Do not disclose your pass code to others without permission."

I am confused as to which code they are referring to on the operation panel of the NC900 main unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably the same passcode as for the "service" identity in DCC, also used to clear security errors from the panel.
I haven't worked on a 900. Others, you hold the panel "menu" key until the password prompt appears.
Forum policy is "do not disclose passwords".

There is a special pass code to do the hot swap. NEC makes one sign a release form before receiving the code with strict instruction not to give it out. It is a liability for them. I'll say this much, once you enter the code, you have a VERY finite amount of time to perform the swap before you have to either finish to stop and you only get one crack at it.. Honestly, unless you are running a 1-off show with someone that will freak out about the light level on the remaining lamp, it isn't worth the effort.

Not worth the hassles and liability to your self, your customer, or to NEC to give that code out. They can still replace the lampwhile it's running and then reboot between the shows to bring in the new lamp. Then reset the hours in DCC... (standby)
