Hi There, I am new to this forum, as we are the newbie in the digital movie industry for 3 years, but had been running film business for over 40 years.

Recently we came across with doremi IMB problem with a burnt condenser on it, thus the IMB failed to marriage the system.

Now we got a replacement part, a 2nd handed IMB, from a closed down movie theatre, the other day, and the board is identical to what we currently got.

After we installed the IMB board, into existing systems (DP2k-20C and Doremi Showvault), we got this message from the playback server once we started to playback a commercial clip, "Marriage is not active".

 -

We did use the Dallas key to reset the barco, everything green lights. Since it is the currently running system, no change in IP, and we also can ping the barco from doremi server.

Please assist us. Your feedback is really appreciated.

Did you actually try the marriage after you exchanged the IMB? This is not something that goes automatically once the marriage has been broken.

Read about the Barco/IMB marriage here:

You are doing this correctly and it should be working. The Dallas key procedure completes the marriage. If the tail light is green and there are no errors in Diagnostics/Actual, marriage is good - or the projector hasn't noticed it has an IMB installed.
What do you see on the server in diagnostics under System and Media Block?
Try deleting "Certainty" in device manager, saving, rebooting. The IMB systems take a few reboots to get copacetic when first installed.
On a new system, you don't manually add the IMB... it just appears in device manager after rebooting once the whole system is connected and had its addressing all set up. It has a green taillight when first powered up with a new IMB, then after the networking is all set up and reboots it has a red light and needs a couple of Dallas key entries to get green again. After the reboot is suddenly notices the IMB tamper switch has been triggered and the marriage is broken. So make sure the network settings are all correct and the PCIe cable is OK.
You may need to re-IP the projector (change it to something else and then back, easy if you have the touchpanel). I'm not sure how the IMB gets its addressing from the CCB.
Or possibly the "new" IMB has a major problem?

Probably a crappy bad Barco micro switch. I had that happen on several of them. You can't marry IMB or you can't clear the door alert or one thing or another!

But it would have a red light with a tamper switch closed. The nice thing is that you can just unplug a bad switch from the backplane - they close when a cover is removed.

But does the card cage switch throw a red light or does it just unmarry the IMB?

It will redlight and show the marriage error.
There's something other than a microswitch involved in the marriage error, I don't think there is any switch on the card cage. But reseat the IMB/SDI and/or ICP cards and you get a marriage error.
Hamhanded pumping can damage (destroy) the LE cover tamper microswitches. These can just be unplugged at the backplane... until replacements arrive... More convenient than those #&%*^! NEC cover switches.

Never had any of the door tamper switches fail on series 2 NEC's. Just the white power switch and on those none at most sites and multiples at other sites. NEC does have a micro switch on their card cages...

I've had NEC's microswitch board/thing indeed fail in a manner that erroneous errors would come up. Conversely, I've only had one Barco limit switch claim a limit was not reached. Now Christie...I'm starting to go through a spat of lamp door and extractor air switches claiming a breach. These may be UV related...then again all electromechanical switches are going to be worse in this ROHS world that prohibits the use of materials that work properly.

Could this be a logical marriage tamper? Barco is happy but Doremi is not. Check under diagnostic tool/hardware and see if you have green lights. Also maybe remove the certainty and the projector from devices, reboot and re-add the projector?

Sorry guys, for the late reply.

First of all, thanks to Carsten Kurz, what you suggested we already did try, we tried out the following commands and in page 23 and 24.

/doremi/sbin/sbcsetup.out -a -f --verify --force-repair
/doremi/sbin/sbcsetup.out --get-version

the system replied with the following, seems everything were in order, but still failed to marriage.

 -

The system and media block tabs in diagnostic tools also reported everything is in order.

 -

The tail light of the barco projector also in green colour, but still failed to playback the unencrypted media.

Left with no choice, before we got chance to read and try out the suggestions posted by Dave Macaulay, we did the following steps on the final advise from a Singaporean tech support,

Download and ingest the following firmwares
1) DLM for firmware, followed by imb firmware, reboot

2) DRM for SM, followed by MediaBlock, then reboot

After last reboot, everything back to normal and the marriage is fine.

Before the ingesting with latest firmware, we did thought of microswitches, we gone through all the checking and meter reading on the microswitches, but nothing wrong with that. We did use the Dallas Key to reset the barco couples of time if not dozen, everything are green, but just failed to marriage.

Thanks God, everything is back to normal now, we are able to push out all the latest blockbusters, Warcraft and the Conjuring 2 etc...

Most all of, thanks to everyone here who able to help in contributing even a slightest ideas to help me to solve this nasty problem, your valuable feedback is highly appreciated.

Thanks again.

I'm not too familiar with the script you run but is it just me or it is reporting SM 5.0.19 while the GUI is reporting 5.0.31? Same with FW: script says 30.05q and GUI 30.07t?

Any chance that maybe the software got somehow 'stuck' with the previous versions and re-uploading the new versions did the trick? Or maybe it was the IMB reporting the wrong ones.

Good to know anyway, thanks for taking the time to report this back to the forums! [Smile]
