Hi all,

We get problem with server ShowVault when we was downgrade SW 2.8.11 to 2.6.4
The server can not see eth0, eth1 and port USB...
Everyone can help me to fix it.

Software 2.8.11 is temporarily made unavailable due to an USB mounting issue on Intel SE7221 motherboards and issues if a downgrade to 2.6.4 is required.

Marco Giustini: swap new SDD from another server using software 2.8.11 is working. with new ssd using software 2.6.4 it didn't work.

I don't know how to get 2.6.4 working on a downgrade, but you can recover it back to 2.8.11 to get it running again. You will need to mount a usb flash drive containing the 2.8.11 package using terminal. If you contact Dolby/Doremi they may help you with this, but here is the quick-and-dirty:

Plug in the flash drive, open terminal, and enter the following:

su root
(enter the root password at the prompt)
mount /dev/sdh1 /media/usb0

At this point you should be able to run Ingest Manager and install the 2.8.11 package.

If the problem is that you can't mount a USB drive to ingest 2.6.4 from, you can ftp it into rc.once and it will install on reboot.

Take out SSD, plug it into linux machine or other and copy 2.6.4 .pkg directly to rc.once, than back to server and it should install!!??

The SSD has a strange connector which ends up on a little board connected to the MB via USB if memory serves.
It may work when connected to a computer via USB but I am not sure. I hope Dolby will happily provide a FOC SSD if a known faulty software has caused the issue?

On SSD board there are just strip pins, but on motherboard side, shouldn't there be SATA?

No, the os SSD is connected to the motherboard by usb. You can run a doremi server off of a usb flash drive plugged into that usb on the motherboard. It runs slow on boot up but it does work.

You can enter a command in terminal and back up your entire os to a usb flash drive as a backup in case something happens to the on board SSD.

Backup: The commands below can be done locally in Terminal or remotely via PUTTY
Disconnect all other USB / eSATA device from the server.
Plug the EB-USB into the server front USB port, auto mount will open an ingest window and scan for DCP’s pkg etc, close this and quit the ingest window.
Open a terminal window, Menu/System/Terminal
Log-in as SU <enter>, password XXXXXX <enter>
To confirm the drives names: mount | grep media | grep usb | tail -1 | awk '{print $1}' <enter> It should look like this = /dev/sdh1 sdh is the EB-USB device.
To check this correct can you also type: mount <enter>, this will show you all mounted devices = /dev/sdh1 on /media/usb0 type ext3 (ro,sync,nodev,noexec,noatime) USB0 should be the EB-USB.
To copy the complete boot-flash (SSD) to a USB: dd if=/dev/sdg of=/dev/sdh<enter>
This will take several minutes.

Just remember that usb thumb drive is only to be used on the internal motherboard USB slot. Do not use it on the external front or rear usb ports. Once you execute the command it will look like it isn't doing anything. Just let it run. It will take about 15 mins to create. Once it is done it will give a confirmation that it completed on the terminal window.
