Hello, dear

I would like to ask something about NC-900C. I have a NC-900C projector, and I want to play 3D movies on that projector. Have you ever used NC-900C with 3D polarizer? If yes, what kind of polarizer did you use? (Such as Volfoni SmartCrystal, Xpand, GetD..) When 3D movies playing, Projector's brightness was good?
Generally, can I use 3D polarizer with NC-900C projector?
It would be great to know if some of you have any experience with alternatives.

You can use any 3D system with an NC900 - but Dolby 3D - and the brightness will have to be calculated based on the 3D efficiency and size of the screen. I suspect that you won't have anything acceptable on screens larger than 4-5 meters, maybe less than that if you account for lamp and projector aging.

I do not have installed any place, nor do I recommend using the NC-900 for single projector 3-D. However.... If you bought a second NC-900 and stacked them using one for each eye with somewhat higher transmissive fixed polarizing filters, then you could do a small setup that would work out very well. The lamps in it just do not have enough brightness to pull it off on anything but a very tiny screen. The NC-1000 which has larger lamps "might" work ok with something like a Real-D X-L. on up to about a 20 foot wide silver screen.

Here are the hard facts, the NC900 has about 4500 lumens, total output and doesn't do well when the lamps are run hard or gets hot at all (I don't know if the lumen level went down on the version 4 and 5 lamps since I hear they are lowering the pressure on them). On the NC1000 you are closer to 6000 lumens. So plug those numbers into your calculations and if you have enough light, then you have enough light. If you don't, you don't. Forget about Dolby 3D (no mechanism for that projector).

As for dual projector, you'd have to have fixed lenses (no zooming, no shifting. The NC900/1000/1100 can't hit its mark to maintain alignment.

So, odds are, it is a poor choice for 3D (as would any low lumen output projector).

So, I have to replace the NC-900C projector to play 3D movies, Right?

Yes, if you want a watchable level of brightness you will need a much bigger/brighter projector for 3D on a 9m screen.
Do you know the gain of your screen?

Yes, either replace it, or add a second NC-900 and do a stacked 3-D system. Top projector is left eye and bottom projector is right eye. The higher the gain of your screen, the worse the hot spotting is gonna be. Around 2.0 gain is just barely tolerable to me even if the screen is curved properly and you sit in the sweet spot seat.

Can the NC900 do 9m with even just 2D? My calculations say 5021 lumen for a 9m scope screen.

I'd replace the projector with a brighter one.

On a 2.4 gain screen it can barely do it with new lamps at 80%. I have one at a location under the almost the same conditions. They used to go through lamps, but since the second version came out most of the early lamp failures have stopped, although running them at above 80% causes premature loss of brightness and still forces you to install new lamps before the warranty period is up. Most of my locations with these can run them at 60% in flat and switched higher setting for scope to about 80% and attian brightness spec on an average 7 meter 1.8 gain screen. An NC-1200 or even better, an NC-2000 would be a far better choices though for 3-D on his size screen. The Real-D units integrate to the NC-1200/2000 really nicely and so do Dolbly 3-D filter wheels.
