Hi all,
Is there a specification regarding the use of sign language as another acessibility content inserted into a DCP, as well as Closed Captions and HI-VI ?
I asked Qubemaster and Fraunhofer EasyDCP about it and they speculated there is no regulamentation yet, therefore they have not a development plan for future implementations.
I heard rumors of the use of a vídeo stream, with only the sing language in it as a VP9 format file. But Disney, Sony and Universal are no longer requesting sign language videos to be delivered as VP9 so I don't think it became a pattern.
Do any of you have any information regarding this?

There are provisions for HI and Closed Captions in DCI, but there are none for Sign Language.

I guess that sign language would require an additional overlay and quite some adaptations on the server side, since there has to be an additional stream that needs to be rendered on top of the image.

There is a pending ISDCF document that documents recording a VP9 video stream in an audio track. In addition, some companies are working on translation on-the-fly translation from closed caption text to sign language.

Alexandre - I suggest you register for the ISDCF mailing list and/or browse the mailing list archive. There has been quite a bit of discussion on this topic during the last year, on the list as well as at the ISDCF meetings.
