Hello,

since yesterday we have a problem with our NEC NC2000C.
At show start, the picture was only red.
It was OK again after reboot.
Red again in the middle of the show.
But with a restart of the lamp it was OK again for the rest of the show.

Error Log:

ICP Data Path Signature Test Result Fail (Red)

Cinema System Log:

Signature Test Fail - Bad Data

Now runs a test with Colot Settings see pictures.
__RED:

GREEN:

_BLUE:

WHITE:

After full shutdown and restart of the NEC everything is OK again.
The NEC is still running now and I'm waiting for the error.

I can first be on site tomorrow and reseat all cables once.

Does anyone have any idea what that might be?

The problem is in the ICP, according to your log.

Given that turning the lamp off and on temporarily fixes it, I suspect heat cycling. Try pulling the ICP out of the card cage, cleaning the contacts, blowing out the contacts on the backplane, replacing the RTC battery if that hasn't been done in the last five years, then reseating it.

If that doesn't cure it, try reflashing the ICP's firmware. If the main projector is already on a software bundle version that includes ICP firmware version 4.2, you will need to force feed the ICP with the reflash, e.g. using the TI f*** about with the ICP and Enigma tool. If it isn't, a full auto update of version 4.221 should do the trick.

If none of that cures the problem, I fear that you have a bad ICP. Not a cheap part, I'm afraid.

I'd be willing to bet that just removing and reseating it fixes the issue. Especially if this projector is in a humid place. I have only had one instance of an NC-2000 ICP acting strange and I walked the customer though re-seating it. That was 2 years ago. One must be careful what you use to clean those contacts. The wrong spray might damage it over the long haul. Caig De-Oxit is the only thing I'd ever use on a projector, although I have never had to. Not all contact cleaners are benign.

Thanks Leo and Mark.

I had to reseat the icp board twice. On the first try the error of the icp changed to green.
On the second try it was gone and I made a firmware update to version Rel. 4.221 with the DCC 5.1.8.0.
Since then everything works perfect again. I was cooling the projection room down to 15 °C and did several shows with different length with longer breaks in between without any problems. At the end the room reached its standard temperature of 22 °C.
In case of cases, I have already requested a board and it is available in a few hours.

Mark is it currently possible to get your - the prism „how-to“ - ?
This is the next thing I have to do.

It's going to be a while before I finish doing that as I am awaiting a kidney transplant and am #1 on the transplant centers list right now. Not doing a whole lotta work except for simple service calls right now. I will for sure get to it though.

Update to the icp board. The error recurred after 3 days. That's why I changed it now.
