Looks like Christie is up to 4.8.1 (3).

The big feature here is...wait for it...

If you have a Solaria 1, you can NOW use an alternate server to the dreaded, guarantee to die, Christie IMB S2.

At the moment, the Dolby/Doremi IMS2000 and the GDC SX3000 are supported.

It should be noted that the previous Christie version 4.8.0 (8) is a CRITICAL update for anyone on 4.7.x Your PIB is in danger so if you are on 4.7, plan on migrating to 4.8.x immediately.

Oddly enough, 4.7 in its various forms are still available but 4.8.0 was pulled for 4.8.1 despite not identifying any fix to 4.8.0 and I'm unaware of anything harmful in 4.8.0.

So owners of this POS now have to buy a new input module at ~2500, and spend 20K plus on a new server? Or will it take other IMB's? I have several of these dreaded projectors that I've had to service in my area and getting rid of the Christie IMB would be a yuge blessing.

As I read it, if you update to 4.8.1, you can put your SX3000 in it. I have no other information than that (I haven't looked). I'm sure there would need to be a new faceplate involved to have access to the IMB.

Well, that's very good news since the Christie IMB's around here still occasionally die. It will be up to GDC to come up with a new face plate which I am sure they will...

Most of the projectors that I service are still on 4.4.0.9. I started using 4.7.0.1 and quickly discovered that nearly every projector would display lamp IMCB version mismatch errors. I have seen this error occasionally in the past, but we're talking just about every single projector that went to 4.7.0.1 started doing it. So I stopped using that version. Does 4.8 correct this issue?

As for the PIB, that's always been the weakest link in these projectors, in my experience. I can't count how many I've replaced over the years. What inherent PIB problems does 4.7 introduce that weren't present before?

If you have a version mismatch, did you try re-installing the package, maybe forcing the update? Did you also power cycle the projector twice after the update?
4.8 release note does not say anything about that. 4.7.1 does mention that a version mismatch is fixed but it only applies to the 2208-LP projector.

I have tried "upgrade different components only" and "force all". Neither resolves the issue. I power cycle the projector after an upgrade, and when the error appears. Sometimes the error comes back as soon as the projector comes back up; sometimes it goes away for a while, but almost always comes back at some point.

I have not replied as I do not have any advice, I'm sorry. But if more than one projector is showing this issue, I'd be tempted to think there is an issue with that particular software version. Did you ask Christie if that is a known bug?

Not just in standby as the power switch on the TPC does but unplugging or turn breakers off and back on. Twice as has been stated. It should mention this on the TPC as well.

Marco, no, I have not contacted Christie about this issue because they are not exactly the most knowledgeable about these types of things. I'm sure their engineers are, but that information doesn't always get relayed to their support center, in my experience. But I have confirmed from a few colleagues that I am not the only one who experienced this issue.

Our Cinema Chain acquired a Cinema in a regional area in Australia. The Software wasn't kept up to date by previous owners. The 2210 projectors are on Software Version 3.1.0 (3). To Install the latest 4.8.1 (3) The Release notes say must have minimum 4.0.0(2) or later. I can find Versions 4.1.0(3) and V 4.1.1 on the Portal.

4.1.0(3) requires 3.1.0(x) which it’s on so I should be able to upgrade in two goes
Does anyone see a problem with going from:

3.1.0(3) currently on this version, to 4.1.0(3) and then latest 4.8.1(3)

There is also a version 4.1.3(3) that will go from 3.1.0.(3)

Appreciate any advice. Thanks

it looks like you've done your homework. It's been a while since I've upgraded one of those machines but your logic is sound.

Remember that when upgrading Christie projectors you may need to reboot/power cycle multiple times for the updates to fully apply.

I would also check all the operations after upgrading to 4.1 and before continuing - if something goes wrong you may be able to narrow the possible causes if you've only done one upgrade.

Thanks Marco, I've obtained a version of 4.0.0(2). Have been informed this is the safest package to use from 3.1.0 before going to 4.8.1. I'll let you know how it goes. Will take a spare ICP card just in case.
