Hey,
One of our NEC2000c projectors, every night this week, has put itself on standby around 12:15am whether it is playing content or not. So essentially the projector will shut itself down in the middle of a picture at the same time every night.
I am looking at the manual but I don't see anything about a standby timer. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Check your exhaust blower. If that blower dies the lamphouse will over heat and the projector will go to standby till it cools down, this is assuming you are running content and the lamp is lit. If the exhaust blower is ok, then you will need to take a look at the error logs to determine exactly whats wrong.

Check, via DCC, Setup>Setup>Sleep Timer. You may have a sleep time set.

So here's the update. Located the sleep timer but it has no entry so that was annoying because I was SURE that was the problem. We sent the projector logs to our techs and they found that around the same time every night there is a remote cue sent from the media player to the projector to shut it completely off. They are thinking that our UPS is going bad? Which we've had in the past because this neighborhood is prone to power outages and power surges, but the projector going into standby has never been a symptom of that before.

For that to be possible, the media player would have to know that there's a problem with the UPS. Are the two connected via Ethernet or USB?

Assuming that these cues are not in any playlist or schedule, the next step is to look at the media player's log. What's the make and model?

Doremi DCP 2000.

We have had that happen on several different occasions. Same projector and server, projector would start going into standby with a bad UPS.

Suggest you download a full log file from the server (control panel > diagnostics if using the old VNC GUI or the touch screen on the unit; if you're using the web GUI on software version 2.8.16 or later, it's a drop-down menu near the right) and upload it to Dolby Log Analyzer. If it's shutting down the projector as a result of receiving a power alert message from the UPS, the log analysis should tell you.

If you can post a link to the analysis here after uploading (copy the URL after the log upload and it returns the analysis page), others here could have a look and chime in.

Hey,

Here's a download link to the logs: http://www.mediafire.com/file/fl04nyckfn7kia2/House%205%20logsN3180317.TXT

There's a spot where the logs say “Power Off (LAN)” and I was told means it was a remote turn off, which is when it would shut off during a film. No one was remotely turning off the projector nor do we have macros set to turn it off so that's the mystery.

The projector hasn't done this in a couple weeks but it could always pop up again.

I am not familiar with NEC projector logs, but:

> 2018/03/16 14:24:35(125) LPSU Fail(2:ErrRx)

Can you tell us a bit more about other gear in your booth that is networked?

Even if your location has never had to rely on the UPS, the batteries need to be changed periodically. I've had to change two sets this year where they were 7+ years old.

It's the server log, as distinct from a projector log, that I'd be interested in seeing.

Rachael - I can email you a PDF of instructions for downloading a log from a Doremi if you need it - PM me with your address if so.

Probably they just forgot to turn on the double breaker for LPSU power... A common thing....

125 LPSU Fail(Param1)
LPSU Fail(Param1, Param2)
LPSU communication error.
LPSU is on abnormal status.
LPSU Fail(No Lamp):
1. Check if the LPSU is powered on.
2. Check the connection of RS-232C cable between PEDE-A PWB and LPSU.
3. Check the connection between POCN2 on PJDIV PWB and PEDE-A PWB.
LPSU Fail(Power):
1. Power-cycle the LPSU. If prolbme is not gone, replace the LPSU.
LPSU Fail(Param1, Param2):
1. Check if the LPSU is powered on.
2. Check the connection of RS-232C cable between PEDE-A PWB and LPSU.
3. Check the connection between POCN2 on PJDIV PWB and PEDE-A PWB.
