Our CP2210 put up a 'unexpected lamp off' warning last night at the end of the show. As a lamp off command had been sent thought it might just be a random communication error so dismissed the warning and then received a 'ballast communication error'.
Restruck lamp and all seemed to be OK, lit first click. When I switched the lamp off using the TPC the same warnings occur.

Apart from a faulty LPS is there anything else I should check ?

If your 2210 is similar to our 2220's, you could try reconnecting/cleaning the DB9 connectors to the LPS.

yeah, this is fairly common on Christies. Pretty sure the 2210 ballast communication connector is behind the lamp blower assembly - you can reach it without taking that out though.

Thanks for the suggestion

Had a look inside and cant figure a way of getting to the connector without removing fans etc and don't have the time for that now. It is all rather tight in there and I certainly could not get a hand near. However did manage to prod at it a bit, so far no warnings so a more thorough inspection clearly needed and a dose of Servisol for the contacts.

If you undo the two fasteners holding the fan assembly plate to the bulkhead, you should be able to shift it enough to reach the serial connector.
To remove the fan assembly you have to disconnect the side cover corner joint and do a fair bit of bending them out that feels like breakage is imminent, but it will come out. No need for that except to clean the sludge off the fans when it affects airflow severely.
Just unplugging/plugging the connector a few times usually solves the communication failure. If not, reseating the PIB is next. After that you probably have a bad LPS or PIB.
May be mistaken but I think reseating this on a 2220/2230 is worse.

2230 is the easiest! It is all on the OUTSIDE of the projector

The 2220 is a pain if you are older the 5. The cables are piano string tight and to move the ballast out enough to get an adult hand in, you have to unscrew the ballast mounts (loooooong screw driver), remove the rear upper support bar and then sort of scoot it out just enough by propping it up on the rear lower support.

Did exactly what Dave suggests and it is all a bit tight and feels like you might break things but you can get the fan out of the way to disconnect and reconnect. All been fine ever since.
