I've got a friend in Wisconsin who's Doremi server thinks it's December 23rd, 2008. He's obviously having issues loading keys for Avengers Infinity War.

I had a similar issue several years ago due to a dead battery on my ICP board, but was able to plug in a laptop and pull the date from it to play my content.

He's not sure how to go about resetting the date.
Any suggestions?

If he missed changing his IMB/Dolphin battery in time, he is out of luck. It might be worth checking the exact version of his Dolphin board, but in general, he needs a short term replacement until his own board get's reserialized, at a few hundred bucks. Plus, a new/other dolphin board/media block also needs to be registered in order to get updated KDMs for the features he is about to play.

Even with a clock so severely off, loading the keys itself should not be a problem.

With any luck, it's just the system time that's off and the time on the Doremi is still within a usable time frame. If not, then it's like Carsten mentioned: The Dolphin needs to be resynced by Doremi. Unfortunately, this isn't something that can be done from remote with Doremi/Dolby servers.

I haven't seen an otherwise working Dolphin or IMB with its secure time that far out. If the MB battery dies, the secure data is lost (like the private decryption keys) and you get no SM serial number showing in diagnostic tool. The only solution is reserialization at Dolby (or replacement). It's probably an unusual RTC failure in the media block: the server doesn't really care about the ICP or motherboard clocks, KDMs go by the media block secure RTC.
A dead ICP battery just needs the time to be set every time you boot the projector, and it doesn't need to be "correct" time. The motherboard RTC is only used for some log timestamps (logs written during bootup) as far as I know. I've seen one working OK with the motherboard clock many years off.

As far as I know, system/show clock time on the classic Doremi servers is always synchronized from either the secure clock or NTP. That means, a Doremi may boot with the wrong system/mainboard time, but once the Doremi GUI is running, will show current time and date as found on the Dolphin board. So, in most cases when the system shows the wrong time, there is either something wrong with the NTP, or the secure clock. In this case, I assume the latter.

The secure clock won't adjust more than +/- 6 minutes without an extended adjustment license, and that is limited to 30 minutes.
A Doremi server that fails to connect to the security manager - pretty common on a Showvault - will show the motherboard RTC time and whine about needing new batteries. On a DCP-2000 or IMS it's pretty serious, as they should never fail to find the SM.
If it's a Showvault, turn the projector on.
