I'm using a Christie 2210 with CDXL-18SD bulb at 1345hrs and I noticed tonight that it's begun to flicker. I ran the LiteLoc setup again as mentioned in the manual, but it didn't really help. My lamp is also running at 75% power. Would increasing the power to 100% make the flicker worse, or better? Is that advisable?

It's still within warranty. I would change it and submit a claim if I were you.

Have you checked the lamp and checked if both the anode and cathode are connected correctly and there isn't a loose contact?

The lamp should indeed still be under warranty. So, if you have a spare (which you should), replace it and invoke the warranty procedure with Christie.

In my experience, driving a flickering lamp at higher power will not get rid of the flicker, but only make it worse. Still, your mileage may vary in specific cases. Depending on the kind of damage in the lamp, it might be more stable at a higher load...

The 18SD is a odd one. It's the one lamp we see warranty claims on. I assume there has been some sort of manufacturing change on that model lately. That being said, Christie has been 100% in replacing them.

I've found that the CP2000-M, CP2210, CP2215 (and probably CP2208, though we don't have any) to be "hot boxes." They really can't remove the heat they generate. They make an exhaust adapter, that few buy, that still does a miserable job of removing the heat from the lamp area.

These projectors do fine with the CDXL-16 and CDXL-14. But the CDXL-18SD, its grey stuff on the anode will flake off and the lamp's life is often wishful.

The CDXL-20 also is a short-life lamp but they also rate it short.

Cost/hour, the CDXL-18SD should be the winner...if it would make it. If that projector was a little bigger and could handle air flow a bit better, it would have been substantially better. It is actually one of the most expensive projectors to run from the Christie line up (cost/hour). In the new CP4315 coming out later this year, they move to a full-size projector body.

Weswitched to the Osram 1.8K lamp in our 2210s and they all reach warranty with no flicker something we never achieved with other brands On that lamp Osram did something right [Smile]

It doesn’t seem to matter whether the extraction adapter is in place or not, the 1800W lamp is still problematic. I can also attest to the Osram performance in this line of lamps. They’ve been excellent.

If that unit has exhaust issues, and if that bulb is pulled, wonder if the envelope is dark as sin being overheating..

..would Christie honor a warranty/exchange on this one?
