During our last showing tonight the taillights on a CP2210 were flashing red with a critical alarm that the radiator fan was at zero RPM’s. Inspected the fan and does need replacing but will probably not be able to obtain a new one until after the Labor Day Holiday. Was thinking about removing the fan and the filter in front of the radiator, put the projector side and top back on, then have an external fan blowing on the side of the projector next to the radiator work as a temporary solution? We do have a roof top exhaust fan connected to the Christie CP2210 with the optional exhaust duct. Or would this idea not be advisable?

Most projectors monitor fan speed, so although the projector may still work, it may also run with red tail lights until a new fan can be fitted. It's also best to blow air though the radiator. You would just have to try that and see if the projector firmware design actually allows that to happen and still light the lamp. I would also think it monitors the DMD temperature and that if that temperature did get too high the projector would shut down the lamp. NEC is designed this way...

You can run a CP2210 without the radiator fan.

Thank you, Mark and Matt, for the feedback. You were correct that the tail lights did remain flashing red, but the lamp started without issue and we kept a fan near the side of the projector to provide air movement through the radiator. The CP2210 ran smoothly today. When I spoke with the Christie representative to get the replacement fan ordered he had mentioned another theatre had just called for the exact same radiator fan replacement an hour earlier.
