Hello all,

I am running a film festival and one of the venues is equipped with Christie Solaria One with Christie IMB which is a pure nightmare...

IIRC it's not possible to use Dolby/Doremi IMS with Solaria One, but maybe there's a way to integrate it with IMB+Showvault or even Alchemy?

We're considering if it would be possible to rent only a server/IMS as it might be a cheaper solution than a full setup.

I believe the projector can only have one IMB-like device, whether it's the Christie one or any other. None of them handle encrypted SDI as the decryption engine is large and expensive - and would only be useful in rare edge conditions like yours.
So you could use any server in place of theirs for the duration of your event if they allow that. It would be a PITA though and someone well experienced with Christie should do the swaps, it's easy to mess that up as many changes must be made to the projector configuration ... then changed back so it works as it did originally for the venue.
Why is the Solaria-1 not acceptable? You should be able to use any size of storage array on it, that seems like a bonus to me for a festival.

Yeah, try to work with what you have. If the storage on the current NAS on the Solaria 1 isn't sufficient, try to get a cheap NAS that does NFS and hook it up to the Solaria 1.

Trying to hook up another server to a Solaria 1 for a temporary configuration sounds like trying to fly an elephant through a hoop for me.

With the latest projector software it is possible to use some 3rd party ims/imb. Best to check with Christie support to see which ones are supported.

I am confused by Christie's naming system... I believe you mean the Solaria-1 small projector including the "Christie IMB" (also known as Solaria server).
I thought you asked about the Solaria server, that you have a "normal" Christie projector with one installed. I've seen them in several 2K and 4K Christie projectors.
Yes they could have software designed so that this Solaria-1 projector will not accept any other IMB. I don't know if they actually do that. You will need to call Christie to find out.

Christie Solaria One can using with GDC SX-3000, I have installed it. I don't try to do it with Doremi. So i think it can work.

The Dolby IMS2000 can be used in the Christie Solaria One projector. If ordering, you would order an IMS2000-CS from Dolby.
You will get an IMS2000 without any face plate.

The correct face plate is something you order from Christie: PN 003-108118-01 (Kit Solaria IMS2000)

Hi all. Hope I am not getting off topic here.
Can the Christie CP2210 projectors accept either the GDC SX-3000 or Dolby IMS2000 units? We are having a lot of issues with our Christie IMB (in fact we had to cancel a screening tonight) and if it is down for the count I would like to consider an alternative. Both the Dolby and DCG units seem to have much better support for alternative content than the Christie IMB and that would be a big advantage for an arthouse like ours.

Yes, the 2210 will accept any general series 2 IMB/IMS. For alternative content, the Barco ICMP/Alchemy is the best in my opinion, but, unfortunately, that one is NOT supported by Christie.

All IMB's are built to the same standard. The only difference are the face plates and in the case of the Christie and NEC any security covers. I have succesfully used the Barco version of the Doremi IMB in both Christie Solaria 1+, a Christie CP2330, and NEC900C machines. In both cases I had to completely remove the face plate from the IMB. In the case of the NEC I had to find a way to secure the tamper switch for the security cover. The first two were both down house situations the third was a shipping error where the replacement security cover was not shippied with a new IMB to replace a GCD server (in that case I was able to modify the security cover to fit without blocking the AES port). The caveat is that you have to run with your card cage semi exposed unless you can find the right face plate.

The marriage algorithms very by make of IMB/IMS. I have been told by Christie support that the Dolby Cat 745 will not work in the new series 3 projectors.

New feature of software 4.8.1 for serie 2 projectors:

provides support for Dolby IMS2000 and GDC SX3000 IMBs on Solaria One projectors.
