Hi guys.
Im having a really bad problem in one Barco 20C.
It start to show Vertical lines all over de screen image.
First i reinsert ICP board but nothing happened.
then i did the same with all the boards but nop.
i replace the ICP and upgrade it but i still having those lines.
I check with test patern green,blue,red and white and i can see it.
if you have any recomendation ill apreciate.

Sorry but you likely have a bad formatter...that is a light engine problem.

thanks steve i was hoping not to be light engine .

did Barco fix it ? i mena they replace the part?

Barco can fix it but it is an absurdly long turn around time (3 months, typically).

Your unit isn't covered by (extended) warranty anymore?

If not, it's probably better to buy a new light engine instead of trying to have your existing one repaired. A lead-time of 12 weeks or more isn't unheard of and repair costs in the range of 50%+ of the cost of a replacement are quite the standard...

Furthermore, Barco will only repair light engines in Belgium, meaning that for customers in North America, the cost is even higher still. Air freighting a light engine in one of their custom-made flight cases is not cheap.

We have a spare 2K B-series light engine that we can rent to a customer while theirs is out for repair. It might be worth checking out if any service dealer in Mexico can offer you something like this, and if so, if the total cost would put you ahead, relative to buying a new light engine. As Marcel points out, probably not by much.

Word has it that with the new entity for Barco Cinema, Cinionic, they will have the ability in the US to perform light engine repairs.

My dealer in Mexico is going to send me a light engine. unortunately out of warranty.
I´ll will see how does that barco/cinionic work to see if its worth it to fix it and have a spare fr future problems

Barco techs tell me the the "uncorrected" color patterns are stored in the formatter cards and thus bypass the ICP and image data interconnects. So if these patterns show artifacts... the problem is in the light engine.

That is normally correct but I've seen a Barco showing artefacts on uncorrected patterns and it turned out the ICP was faulty!

Also seen a Christie with lines on uncorrected patterns - the signal cables were replaced!

Again: what you say should be correct but I've witnessed machines which seemed not to be aware of that! [Smile]

Swap the cables between the affected color and another. If the problem stays, it's the formatter.
