Sony has a new Compact Cinema Projector, details lacking, looks like you can stack for more lumens and are avail in a stack configuration pre polarized for left and right eye 3D.

Just replace the Sony Logo on that machine with 'NEC', and Mark Gulbrandsen will be happy...

Well, I was wrong, but still close - it's not a NEC logo, but a GDC logo.
Interestingly, Sony has paired this new small DCI 4K phosphor laser projector with a GDC IMB.

The only DCI compliance test for that new SRX-R608 (DS) has been performed with this new GDC SR-1100 IMB. Wondering wether that partnership is only active for the DS (dualprojection) setup. So far, they tested only the DS system.

The DS system will be displayed at CinemaCon April 1-4.

I was hoping Sony would be using their own bread of IMS or the XCT-X10 for user-friendly seamless control. Using a none Sony IMS now requires third party software.
I was told the 608 will have HDMI 2.0 for alternative content. I wonder if partnering with GDC changes that. GDC announced HDMI 2.0 last year, has that materialized if not what is the status?

Still not sure wether that GDC SR-1100 bundle is only for China. However, since this is the first and so far only DCI CTP result, it may indeed remain the only DCI playback solution.
The CTP document quotes a GDC PSD-3000 being connected to the system during the test, so, a local storage. I have no experience with the SR-1000, but from what I know it offers full standalone operation without a TMS through a web interface?
Another interesting question - the SR1000 (which the SR-1100 is based on) is able to support series 1 systems (HD-SDI then). Are they using this connection method into the SRX-R608 - or, does this projector as a first for Sony offer a series 2 compatible IMB/IMS slot? HD-SDI would have to support dual 3G for 4k support otherwise, but even that would be limiting for e.g. HFR/HDR.
Sony had a similar solution with the SI-R320, which included a special version of the Doremi IMB and an LVDS connection.
