I had a CP500 lose all output in all formats. No bouncing signal bars, either. Replacing the 684 board fixed the issue. This to me is somewhat strange (although not the least bit inconceivable) because every time I've had one of these boards go bad, either the processor wouldn't boot or there would be error messages.

Anyone know if this can be field repaired?

Hi, I have had many of these fail, typically causing the serial comms to fail in my case. These failures are often due to the pcb mounted super cap/ battery leaking and damaging the nearby pcb traces. Where the damage was not too bad I have been able to repair the traces.

Yes, I have had that exact same thing in a couple CP-500's at the same site... Units were the same age. The old days of the silver oxide memory batteries that would leak. Seen it happen Hewlett Packard test equipment as well.
