Hello Everybody
After a lot of bad luck, we had received a replacement screen that doesn´t fit in our cinema screen.
it´s possible to think about using the rear side to project? (the right side is all gold-painted because of the popcorn smoke) or it´s an absolute madness?
What do you think?

Hmm thats a good question. Maybe if all else fails. Some screens have a different backing coating on the back side while others don't. I guess you could partially hang it and run some patterns and see how it looks if nothing else?

It may be better than the stained front... are you sure the back isn't stained as well?
The seams were done to make the front side as invisible as possible so the rear side of the seams might be rather obvious.

So, don´t you think it could be a problem about the coating of the screen? I even prefer a white screen over the perlux.

There are a lot of screen types... matte white is standard here and the surface appears to be bare vinyl. I looked at a screen today and the back is a bit shinier than the front. I can't tell if this is just a different surface texture on the front, or a coating on an otherwise identical front.
Perlux and other gain screens will be definitely different on the back side. You pretty much have to try it and see how it looks.

If you do a rear projection you will need to revers the image.

Stephan he is doing a normal front projection set-up but asked about projecting onto the back on the existing screen due to stains on the front and receiving the incorrect size of replacement.

At my cinema, we used to wash the silverscreen every other year with water and some alcohol and soap. First test on a small part of the screen.

if it's a matte 1.0 screen, should be the same. If it's high gain you'd lose the gain (which is good IMHO!). If it's Silver you'd lose the gain AND the ability of showing 3D.

Anyway, probably still better than a big yellow stain - but do not expect the back of your screen to be pristine!

The back side will always have a sheen to it that is very annoying in the projected image

Is it too large or too small? If its too large can you have it cut and sewn with new grommets? If its too small how small? Can you use large screen bungees and mask it down?
