There is a significant change, which is that the firmware update that 8.0 will install to a connected system adds a web UI to the core, which QSC calls the "Core Manager." Some of the functions of Q-Sys Administrator in older versions (e.g. uploading audio files to the core) have been moved to it.

It also requires one to be on 7.2.1 before upgrading. There is a whole checklist of things to do before attempting an upgrade.
