Don't even think about running this at 1.85. The framing is too tight and the cue marks on R1 won't be visible. I'm guessing that this would look best at 1.66 or maybe Academy. In any case, it was overcropped at 1.85.

Having read your post, I tried screening it in Academy and discovered that it was hard-matted at 1.66. So ran it at 1.66 and still framing looked tight.My question is: Why hard-matted? It was shot on DV and (presumably) will be released at 1.33 for DVD and VHS. It ran mostly in arthouses anyway, so it would've made sense to print the entire image, giving the option of running in Academy or running in 1.66 and framing high.
