Update: we got a memo that says basically "this film was mixed too softly; make sure to play it loud enough for people to hear the dialogue." Whoever wrote this is correct; the track is quiet and needs to be played at least one fader setting higher (e.g. 7.5 vs. 6.5) than whatever is normal for your theatre.BTW, why does Fox Searchlight keep producing flat films that have the 20th Century Fox Fanfare with Cinemascope Extension?

Not only are the first few frames of R4 black, the last few frames of R3 are. Further, some distance back (85 feet) from the tail of R3, there is a solid black scene that runs for a few seconds (there is audio).
On one of my prints, the folks who plattered the print cut the tail at this point, so their audience would have missed the last minute of R3.

Because the public does not care about what the extra piece of music originally stood for and it sounds good. In today's world, the "cinemascope extension" does not mean anything. Times change. Please take further comments to another thread.
