The following enclosure came from the Post Production Department:

"Important note regarding- "Crocodile Hunter- Collision Course" prints.

The film should be projected in the animorphic 2:35 aspect ratio format. Please note that all of the scenes with Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) have vertical black bars on the left and right of the screen making the image appear smaller than the rest of the film.

This is not a defect and is the intended effect of the director of the movie.

Also, this film is not as loud as other movies you may play so please adjust the volume in your theatre by listening to it to make sure you are playing it at proper volume.

Note: Upon bench examination, I found the verticle black scenes to comprise about two-thirds of the movie! Head and tail of reel #2 has it. Changeover houses should be aware that the cue marks at the end of reel #2 appear on the smaller image.

Reels #4 & #5 are short.

Do the Steve Irwin scenes appear to have been shot with video? What aspect ratio do they appear to be?

I daresay that the aspect ratio of those scenes appears to be 1.85/1.
Not sure if they were shot on video.

I have just one word to describe what I think of cropping the image repeatedly: LAME!

I saw a couple of minutes at a theater I was servicing last night, but I have no idea how accurate their lens/masking combination is. It looked to me like 1.66

Let's start a thread in FHF or FY if this discussion is to continue.

Had to laugh at the Die Another Day trailer being attached to a PG film. But, I suppose the kids didn't catch the total nudity of the butts. I thought that we would get a few complaints about a very sexy adult themed trailer being attached to a family film.
