5 reels
MGM (now distributed by Warner Bros. aka AOL Time Warner)
Flat/1.33 (some of the 1998 reissue prints are IB Tech and are full-frame 1.33; most are 1.33-in-1.85 and Eastmancolor)
SRD/DTS/SDDS

IB prints have "star" shaped cue marks rather than the usual circles; on these prints, reels 1AB and 5B (the sepia-toned sections) are Eastmancolor; the rest of the print is IB.

Print #109 from the Warner Craft Vault is an IB print which looks to be in pretty good shape. I'll post more detailed info after I run it next weekend.

Warner print #109 is great. It is probably the nicest print that I will ever see of this title. No scratches and very occasional visible dust. Most reels have only about 12 frames between the second cue mark and the last frame of picture. R1 has normal lab cues, R2 has handmade Clint Phare cues, and R3 and R4 have green star-shaped IB Tech cues. Timing doesn't quite match between reels, but the color is fantastic.

Sound is slightly low on the IB reels; sound should be turned up one step (e.g. from "7" to "8") for those.

The 35mm print that they are using for the "Wizard of Oz" sing-along is very nice looking print. But it has about three register problems during the movie. They use an icon cue in the lower left of the screen for different features during the film presentation.

Note the DVD they were selling in the lobby was the regular DVD Special Edition. (They were selling that DVD for $45.00 in the lobby [thumbsdown]

here in New York. )

The 'Sing-Along' print I handled was:

SDDS/SRD/DTS/SR, had no accompanying DTS discs, and was 1.37:1 aspect and Eastman (not IB)

I ran the Sing Along version a few weeks ago at Kingsbury Hall at U of U. The print was excellent and was apparently done by digital transfer, although I thought there was a bit of softness to it that other prints I've run in the past didn't have. I also noticed the mis reg in several scenes. All of the tracks on the film are still in good ole mono. No Dts with this print either. The kids, and adults had a blast for the showings I ran.

Mark: Was your print labeled 'BACKUP PRINT' (on the cans) with no print number and non-original leaders on H1 and H3, no tail leader (just the rating tag) on R5, and a really nasty emulsion scratch on the far right side of the first few feet of the Warner logo? The print I had this weekend came from SLC.
