Does anyone know if the Star Wars will be attached?
Posted by Kurt Zupin (Member # 2751) on 03-08-2005, 06:48 PM:
Everything I've heard has been that its going to be the ICE AGE 2 short attached and Star Wars will be lose...but that can all change as we have found out in the past. Wouldn't surprise me if they had both attached as they did with Chicken Run/Hitchickers on National Treasure I believe.

is that short figured into the the running timee of the feature?

from Comingsoon.net
In related news, USA Today has revealed that audiences will get to see Scrat wreak prehistoric havoc once more in the Ice Age 2: The Meltdown teaser trailer which will debut in theaters with Robots.
The twitchy rodent, again voiced by Wedge, will face more natural disasters in the 1½-minute preview. "We call it a short short," says Wedge, director of the original Ice Age. "It's hard to run out of material for that guy. He is just loose, loose, loose all the way."
As being the attached preview I would assume that its included in the run time.

Well, when they said short I thought something like 6 mins. Why don't they call it what it is....a teaser trailer.

Everyone please be on the lookout for a trailer with a CODE NAME on it this time.

..for this "short, short" was prob released as a separate small featurette and not intended to advertise the next ICE AGE II.
..code name for SW-III, as I've found on the trailers is "Sand Dog"

If my memory is correct the teaser for ICE AGE was also a Scrat adventure, chasing that damn acorn.

On the DTS disc it says it has Bosco, there is no movie called Bosco included with the movie, could this be SWIII

EP III is attached before the Scrat adveture. And I must say, it looks pretty darn good.

Ice Age 2 is not a standard trailer.
It does not have a Fox logo anywhere in its length.
It concludes with - To Be Continued.
It is printed as the beginning of reel 1 of Robots, going immediately into the Fox feature logo for Robots, with no splice between the end of the Ice Age 2 short and the feature logo, the same way that Disney prints its shorts before the beginning of its features.
Depending on how much black is left before the first frame - a white screen - the length is 184 1/2 feet, or 2 minutes 3 seconds.

Interesting.
All three of my Robots prints had both the Star Wars trailer AND the Ice Age short spliced in after printing.

That IS interesting.
I am running 2 prints that were identical as far as the printing of the Ice Age 2 short and the beginning of the Fox feature logo without a splice between them goes.
I wonder why anyone would bother cutting the film to splice the short to the beginning of the first reel of the feature. Both of my prints have less than a foot between the end of the short where it fades out and the beginning of the fade in of the feature logo.
I also found the Star Wars Episode III trailer was spliced to the head of the Ice Age 2 short on both prints.

We are running two prints at our theater and neither came with Star Wars trailers.

I don't suppose this is particularly relevant now but the trailer for Ice Age included with prints in New Zealand is a standard trailer with Fox logo and Ice Age 2 - 2006 at its conclution.
