in particular, can anyone confirm...

that the prints are on color stock (the dreaded green & white)?

and that the ratio is 1.66 pillarboxed into the 1.85 frame?

Got 2 prints tonight. Does not appear to be green & white, just B&W. Did come with instructions not to use cleaning solution on the film and to clean the gate daily (I would say before/after each show). Also got a message to call someone about the sound but will do that in the morning and let you know what that's about.

No one's going to tell me not to use cleaning solution. If it's on B+W stock, Filmguard's a must.

I can confirm that the ratio is 1.66 inside 1.85.

These guys probably used some generic film cleaner or purchased a knockoff film-destroying solution from CPI. FilmGuard will not damage those prints. It is in fact the only product out there that can battle the shedding.

Hopefully they weren't stupid enough to photoguard/scotchguard the prints, because that just aggravates the problem.

B&W acetate stock is fine (and it's still available, as far as I know). It's the ESTAR-base B&W print stock that sheds enough to practically require FG if one wants to run the print for several months without getting dust all over it.

Apparently, there is special wax coating on these prints. And they are definitely leaving residue on the tension bands.

All the dust ruins the analog sound track after several shows.. the copy of Good Night and Good Luck we got crackled big time..lets just hope there's DTS disks for the Good German.
