I don't believe that any of the digital soundtracked Star Wars prints (Special Editions or I-II-III) were SDDS-8.

According to the SDDS web site, "Phantom Menace" was 8-channel. But it's the only one in the series.

Fox Fanfare is recorded WAY too soft as is the opening theme.
I'm running the Fox Fanfare on 9.0, dropping back to 8.0 for the opening title and crawl and going down to 7.0 for the rest of the feature at the end of the crawl just before the spaceship comes on screen. Works well.

5.1? Is that correct? With all the hype around the original release and being the very first ES/EX mix and all of that? And with it originally having SDDS 8 on top of that? How LAME.
Is this movie available in film based Tech 3D as well? If so, is that a 5.1 mix also?

Yes, 5.1 only. And there's a 3D open caption file. I bet that will look just super.
It also appears that the movie is almost 3 minutes longer here in the US. Also strange is that the 6FL 3D version is 6 seconds shorter than the others.

It is longer because there is a Scrat Short (ice Age Character)on the feature.

Yeah, we don't have the Scrat short and also yeah, it's 5.1.
Shows how much they care, eh? I remember a LOT of places spent a whole bunch of cash to get EX in for episode one on initial release as it was SO important to the sound of the movie.
