SR/SDDS only
Conventional silver-applicated track
DFS Depot
Columbia Pictures / Sony
Kodak "386" ESTAR-base stock (EASTMAN EXR 2386 color print film)

DFS has this print correctly as SDDS/EASTMAN on their label and hence their database, so presumably you could ask for the right sound format. We got this print because the Brattle had it earlier in the month and that was logistically sensical.

Sony didn't accept the other digital formats until mid 1998 - like with UNI with them being dedicated to DTS and Buena Vista being dedicated to SR-D.

"Air Force One" was the rare exception for Sony in 1997 allowing quad track print releases.

Sony didn't do much SRD stuff at the beginning. As is documented on other threads, "The Mirror Has Two Faces" was SR/SDDS only and "Men in Black" was SR/DTS/SDDS only (with the exception of R1). I believe "Jerry Maguire" was also SR/DTS/SDDS.

While Sony did mostly use SDDS exclusively from 1993-1998, they did on occasion, as Blaine noted, use the other formats. In pulling some of my old Widescreen Review work, I see the following regarding Columbia, TriStar, Triumph and Sony Pictures Classics releases:

Most of the titles list above that deviated from an SDDS-only release were exceptions due to Sony distributing a film made by another company (Castle Rock, for instance) or acquiring a film after its completion.
