I know the film has several different versions, but any info would be great.

I ran the mag track only IB technicolor print, the 1982 Dolby Stereo (yukko) release and the 1990 restored and presented in 1.37:1 release.

1941 Roadshow - 140 minutes, dye transfer prints interlocked with Fantasound dubber (three double-wide variable area tracks).

1941-2 General Release - 125 to 80 minutes depending on the vintage of the print (animation was cut). Mono sound.

1946 Re-issue - Cuts down live action footage, complete animation. Mono sound.

1956 Re-issue - "SuperScope" variable anamorphic prints, 4-track mag from the "phone line" recordings of the original optical Fantasound.

1969 Re-issue - Never handled a print, but as I recall, this was IB/mono (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Censored cut.

1982 Re-issue - 4-track/Kodak SP. This is the Irwin Kostal re-recorded version.

1990 Restoration - YCM restoration, censored cut. Fantasound restored as Dolby track.

the 1969 versions had both releases: optical only and the mag only with no optical backup versions.

Both on IB stock.

Running times for both releases was 128 minutes.

I ran the optical at a drive-in for three nights in the early 70's and in 1978, we had a one week engagement using a mag only release print (good thing we had RCA come in the week before to tune our Simplex Magnetic setup up to specs..and I had a different headstack for No.2 machine that I took out of a Motiograph penthouse since the original headstack had an open in the center channel windings.. It definitely didn't fit the reader, but with a bit of Epoxy glue and lucky bubble-gum and duct-tape alignment that I did, the RCA tech was quite impressed on my homemade job and still got it to specs), and it sounded excellent for a mag, 4-channel system.
