According to IMDB the film is in 1.78:1, or 16:9. What's the deal with that? Anyone know who made the call to already have it ready for HDtvs?

The deal is that IMDb is unreliable. Trust Film-Tech, not IMDb. [Wink]

1.78 and 1.85:1 are close enough that the difference is negligible. Digitally shot movies (like this one) sometimes are native 1.78 and just cropped slightly to 1.85 for theatrical projection, while 1.85 movies have been opened up to 1.78 on DVDs since the format was introduced.

Check this out: 1.33x1.33=1.77, 1.77x1.33=2.35

(Further discussion of this should probably be moved to Yack, there may even be a thread somewhere that could be zombied.)
