All around great movie for kids of all ages! (Sorry, I'm trying to get quoted in a newspaper ad)
Incredible animation.
Great soundtrack.
Story formulaic, but enough surprises to keep me happy.
Scary enough to not be G.
Characters undergo changes for better and worse, which is refreshing in a kid's movie.
That's all I'll say for now, 'cuz I'm sure that'll be enough to start some sort of discussion.

I really enjoyed this film as well. Lots of "action", sometimes probably a little too much for kids, but overall, a great flick. I'll admit, I didn't really want to see it all that much but I'm glad I did. It kept me entertained for the hour and a half I was there.

What would the T-Rex (actually wasn't it something called a "Carnisaur"?)... anyway... what would it say? The only thing it could do would be to steal all of Fat Bastard's lines... "III'M GONNNA EEEEAT YOOUUUU!" ------------------

This one's too scary for kids under say...6 years old. It's a PG here, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone.The digital animation is excellent and I had high hopes until they started to speak. I had no idea that 65 million years ago that young dinosaurs and monkeys were hip, rad and cool.
The story is so lame it could be told in 2 minutes flat. At least they didn't all get up and perform a singing and dancing routine cover of the (thankfully non existent) pop song by Celine Dion and Elton John or the like.
Big disappointment. Pretty dark print too.

Dinosaurs and monkeys weren't even in the same era of civilization. But, I regress. The story was ok, animation on actual filmed scenery was amazing, but the script is what keeps a film engrossing even if it is a kid picture, sort of. This one had a lamo script. I think I chuckled once.

When I saw this movie (months ago), I felt the main problem with the movie was it seemed to be designed to be enjoyed in an environment free from distractions. The showing I attended was full of babies that cried during most of the show, ruining it, because the dinosaur fight scenes scared the youngest children and made them cry. I wanted to see Dinosaur in a nearly empty house, but never actually put the effort into seeking out such a showing anywhere. The showing I did attend on opening weekend was the worst movie I ever attended at any theatre as far as distractions went.I find it very interesting that the following statement was made in the press release about the DVD at http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/001009/ca_walt_di.html :
"The DVD of DINOSAUR features a digital transfer created directly from the digital source, ensuring an optimal presentation that actually surpasses the Theatrical experience."
The resolution of 720x480 cannot compete with 35mm film presentation, but I can see that if the first chance to see this movie without a bunch of crying babies ruining the movie is on DVD in a home theatre, in this case, the home experience would surpass the theatrical experience. Maybe that's what they have in mind. 
I don't really know which age group this movie was aimed at, but it wasn't suitable for young children. I'd say the early teens and the 9-12 age groups would get the most enjoyment out of it. I like these kinds of movies because I am interested in the computer-generated characters, since I do a lot of computer programming and can appreciate the hard work that went into movies like these.
