The trailer for this show failed to impress me much, but hey, it is a Western of sorts, and us fans don't get too many of them these days... A little late, but I finally had an opportunity to watch it today. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they handled the setting, and with the respect they ultimately showed the (Western) genre, in this unusual mix of chop-socky (apologies to Joe Bob) and gunslinging action. The stunts and hand-to-hand fight scenes are choreographed well, with many comic elements thrown into the mix for good measure. There's even several funny scenes with the lead character's horse, ala CAT BALLOU.

I absolutely loved this picture! But then, I'm primarily a Western fan, so all the send-ups especially appealed to me.

Looking forward to this one. I think the trailer makes it look pretty good too. (except that the trailer is flat with the scope aspect ratio...I hate that)

Well, it finally arrived...

I enjoy the occasional western also (Cat Ballou is one of my favourites) and it was indeed nice to see some folks riding across the western plains once more.

I thought the film labored a little. I'm unsure of the director's credits, but it gave me the impression he may be a friend or relative of Jackie's.

The image was...glorious...so sharp! In this world of neverending super35 prints, it was so good to remember what true panavison looks like. This was a second hand print which I'm sure must have been run with filmguard previously...not a speck of dust on it...just some nicks on the rhs and a run off between the sprockets on the side opposite track (thank goodness). If this is what Filmguard looks like, I can't wait for my batch to come (hopefully) this week.

Jackie's looking old, but I've not seen him in anything since Cannonball Run in 1980, so it's no wonder...

Nice music, good stunts especially the horseshoe and the rope scene.

6/10
