This would have been a funny film had it been about 30 minutes shorter and had they given Jim Carrey ANYONE to trade off jokes with apart from himself.

I like Renee Zelweiger, but a comedian she ain't.

The credits were funny for about 30 seconds but then it just got boring. Was it just padding to try and keep you there for the lame tacked on joke?

Some very funny scenes, but no "I think I'm gonna have a coronary!" like in There's Something About Mary.

All they way through it, I just couldn't help thinking "you know, Jim Carrey's past this kind of schtick now".

I just got home from seeing "Me,Myself, and Irene", and even though it is from Two guys who are from my home town and filmed in The area in which I live in, and even though I know like 3 people in the movie (including one of the writers)I must say, it SUCKED! The worst part of my "movie Experience" was that there were like 3 little kids sitting in the same row I was sitting in, and who, everytime something funny would happen, they would say, "what does that mean" and then I had to sit there and listen to some frigging old guy in the row in front of me who would sit there and talk to himself! Thank you for allowing me to vent!

Sounds like a perfect example of too many cooks spoiling the broth. HOW do two people direct a movie? Do they take turns? Are they conjoined twins? Do they each get half of the director's salary? If there's a disagreement, which one do the actors listen to?

I suspect one is really riding the other's coattails.

I enjoyed the film for the most part, but they really should have gotten somebody better than Renee Zellwegger. She was extremely boring. Did she even smile once in the movie? Ah well, I watched it for free, so what can I say? Not as good as Dumb and Dumber, though.

Pretty funny flick. The major problem with it for me was there wasn't enough screentime devoted to Jim Carrey's kids! Maybe it's just me, but they were just damn funny.

I agree about the kids... they were the best part of the movie. I have heard that a screenplay is being written just for those characters now. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it'll be interesting!

I too agree the kids were hilarious, but I think that both Jim Carrey and the writers have a SERIOUS anal fettish. I would have enjoyed the movie much more without all the inuendo on that one.

as far as a film having two directors goes, obviously it didn't work as great as it could have, but there are some shining examples of two directors working together to create a very fine final product, i.e.: the Wachowski brothers with The Matrix.

I think the Farrely Brothers need to be MUCH more self indulgent, it still seems like they are holding back. I think they could have one really big over the top comedy that will break some waves as far as comdey goes. they just need to stick to the comedy and cut the bullshit plots out. Look at all their films, they all have some really funny stuff in them but all fail because of mainstream plots. They should make something more abstract like Kentucky Fried Movie and not hold back anything.

>>there are some shining examples of two directors working together to create a very fine final product, i.e.: the Wachowski brothers with The Matrix.<<

I know one produces and one directs, but The Coen Brothers do some fine work as well. I think The Big Lebowski is one of the most under-rated films of the past few years.

Is THAT why their movies make so much money? Because they have failed? Come on Tyler, that's not the way Hollywood works. Greg Mueller is right, it's all about MONEY.

I didn't mean that they failed at the box office. I meant more that they all fall shy of their potential plotwise and as a comedy. Sure, I know its all about money, but also as Greg said, a director has to be successful before they can do what they want, I just think the farrely brothers are holding back some great work at the expence of making money.

Well, get the MPAA off of everyone's backs and perhaps their true potential will come through. Anyone remember Orgazmo? There was nothing worse than an "R" rating in there. Very few bad words, hardly any violence and no real nudity. The MPAA just couldn't handle the subject matter being about shooting a porno movie.

"At my age you have to do DVDA or no one will hire you"

I remember when all the hubub was going on about this movie, I had "aquired" a workprint video (pre-butchering) and said and thought the same thing. It just reminds me of a David lee Roth video where he showed the ratings board as a Priest, a Minister, and a Nun, and that was it.

Trey Parker is now working on a live action sketch comedy show for Comedy Central, should prove interesting...

You got one of John Pytlak's work print bootlegs of Orgazmo too? I liked that version much better, as I thought the cheezy music was well suited to the movie. The final rock soundtrack was crap.

(Just kidding there John. )

With the anal jokes, the milk mustaches, the sperm gel (I know that wasn't in this film), and a chicken up some guys ass, if these guys are holding back, I'd think a true to self wave breaking self indulent vision would be pornographic. Is that the reasoning behind the Orgazmo example?
"I don't understand? Hey, look pal! You try having four dicks in you at one time!" And think EVERYONE on this forum's got that Orgazmo bootleg.

Anyway, getting back to this movie. Gotta love those black kids. "Well what'd I do wit' da' muthafuckin' electron then!?" Funny shit. I've never liked Renee Zelweiger. She's never been funny and she's never been a looker either (Well she might have turned my head a few times in Empire Records, but she's put on some weight since then). But the kids were funny. And I still haven't seen this movie all the way through. I'd love to see a sequel with more of those kids though. Have I mentioned I really liked the kids?

Hey. Why have I got my post on here twice? I'm sure I only sent it once. I didn't think what I had to say was that important to say it twice.

sure you did Dwayne. your too post happy.

I personally loved those black kids as well. Too bad that the electron kid is cast in that ugh! Urban Legends : Final Cut movie (if that is what they prefer to call it.) Hopefully he will save the day and make that movie worth seeing. I agree with Dwayne a chicken up a guys ass. whoda thunk? whats next.

Oh yes, I too have seen the bootleg working print of Orgazmo. I liked it better the soundtrack just rules, especially when orgazmo and c-boy are out shooting people with the orgazmorator.

I don't think they should have thier own movie, but it would be nice to have them pop up in another Farrely Brothers movie just like they use all the same actors over and over. Maybe have one show up as a German teacher somewhere :-)

>>And thinkEVERYONE on this forum's got that Orgazmo bootleg.<<

damn, and I thought I was exclusive to that bootleg. oh well, at least I have the best copy of the 5 hour Apocolypse Now. (done bragging)

What the hell is going on here?? I have the Orgazmo bootleg, too, but it's a horrible copy. I do, however, cherish my Cannibal-The Musical DVD. Parker, Stone, and Bachar do audio commentary, and it's one for the ages. I'd like to see them do the same with Orgazmo.
I agree with the assessment of Renee Zellweger. Her acting skills are hideous. She absolutely ruined One True Thing with her lack of talent. One of her first films was Texas Chainsaw Massacre-The Next Generation, an unwatchable film. That should have tipped somebody off. Cameron Diaz was a good sport in Mary; Renee merely seems uncomfortable.
My favorite part in Irene is a throwaway line where Carrey explains when the Wizard Of Oz picture was taken-just messing around the house.
Rhode Island is a bizarre place-I wish the Farrelly Bros would set an entire film there instead of just setting up the story and moving the plot out of the state. Imagine what they could do with Del's Lemonade...

Yo man, Don't be messin with the Del's Lemonade, thats some good shit.

I have relatives in RI, and they nail it pretty good, the sandy roads, guys with mustaches, the way they talk, the only cliche they didn't touch on I think was the way people drive, there is no such thing as a stop sign in RI. I actually got honked at from a driver behind me when I slowed down to stop at one.
