Were it not for the fact that Sigourner Weaver and Jennifer (no-they're real) Hewitt weren't so damn hot, this one would have been a thumbs down as well. It could have been, but just wasn't. If it were 40 minutes shorter it would probable fair better in the public market than I expect it to. But hey, it *is* March, so what shoudl we expect from the Sillywood geniuses?

Jason, you're right about the running time. But, I actually stayed awake until 3am watching it and found it extremely funny. I had originally planned on watching SIIS, but the print wasn't delivered until 12:30am. So, I ended up watching HeartBreakers. Hard to believe Ms Weaver is in her 40s, what a bod. Gotta love Hackmans teeth too!

I enjoyed this movie. There weren't many things in the movie that made the audience laugh, but this was more of a "smart comedy". It reminds me of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", of course. The movie went on for a long time, but I did not find myself watching the time wishing it would be over soon. I was, at nearly all times, curious to find out what would develop next.

Observation: Most scenes in this movie seemed to have been filmed using the 2:1 anamorphic process, while some scenes appeared to have been filmed with spherical lenses.

As for "Film Done Right":
The presentation was flawless, and this was my 50th visit to this theatre. Entering this showing in my data caused this theatre's overall projection quality rating to rise a tenth to 99.3, the highest rating achieved since the site started. As a matter of fact, I don't think any other theatre in my area has achieved over 98.3 . I checked back through the records and 29 of the 50 visits have had scores of 100 (the median presentation score is 100).

Evans --- your good experiences at this theatre show that "Film Done Right" really depends upon the dedication and skill of the theatre management and staff. I doubt they have special equipment, get special prints, or pay their people much above the industry average. But they probably treat their employees well and encourage them to take pride in "showmanship". It's heartening to hear of well-run theatres like this, and to know that hundreds of Film-Tech readers are trying their best to provide superior presentation quality at their own theatres.

You're right, John, from my experiences, I'm convinced that the dedication of the management to the quality of their work and the small details that make a difference. I brag on such managers (and staff) as much as possible. It doesn't matter how good the facility or equipment -- bad management and carelessness will ruin presentation quality in a significant percentage of showintgs at a theatre. I have data to prove it.

Since this is the movie review forum and not the ground level forum, I'll say more about the movie:

I think that the mother and daughter's ability to keep pulling off those stunts (getting free stuff and doing the marriage and setup for cheating) is unrealistic. I think they'd be able to get away with some things occasionally, but not repeatedly. That poor bar owner, if he'd had any sense, wouldn't have kept trying to have a relationship with someone who acted so flaky. After the first couple of weird occurrences, I would have run from the girl if I saw her coming, even if she were as pretty as Jennifer Love Hewitt. (We all know that ugly girls are the ones to keep.) Reference: the song "If You Wanna Be Happy" by Jimmy Soul, 1963! The chorus goes: "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife; from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you."

Do you think most men are as trusting as the ones the ladies encountered in the movie? Do you think most men are so easy to get to "cheat" on their wives?

The couple just got away with too many things as the movie progressed to be believable, although the beauty of a movie is that things don't have to be believable -- that's what made it fun.
