Like Gone in Sixty Seconds the plot wasn't beautifully orchestrated and also like Gone in Sixty Seconds it didn't need to be. This is all about the cars and it is great to finally have a movie that displays the import scene. I wasn't particularly pleased with the camera action. Their could have been a lot better angles to shoot these scenes from, but overall I think it will definately hold its own. Vin Diesel, not outstanding but definatley a good actor.

Remeber those movies from the 70's or 80's like Skate Town USA? Basically they were an excuse to show you (supposedly) cool people doing (supposedly) cool things. They just tossed in a plot so they could get it past the studio execs. This is what The Fast and the Furious reminded me of. If you like fast cars and you like to see them go fast and do funky things, you'll like this movie. If you want to watch a movie that has a plot go somewhere else. Remember, this is a MOVIE. Consequently, the laws of physics don't necessarily apply unless it's part of the plot. Don't bother to count how many shots came out of that (supposedly) six-shot revolver and things like that. So, okay they were machine guns... still, Waaaaay to many bullets came out of those guns that only had 50 round magazines in them! 
So, when that car hits an embankement, flies 1/2 mile through the air, rolls 3 times, lands on it's wheels and the driver walks away, just say to yourself, "This is a MOVIE!"
I had the honor of presiding over the running of this movie for a press screening. I was sitting in the back row of the auditorium watching the "go show". In case there were any problems I could bolt out the rear balcony door and dive into the booth. (Yes, my company has balcony seating in it's bigger buildings, now.) I was called out of the auditorium to answer some questions for the newly arrived general manager and missed about 20 minutes out of the middle of the film. I came back in, sat down and was able to pick up the plot again in only a minute or two.
For me, this was a generally "OK" film but not great.
I give it * * -- Two stars. (Good enough to watch because it's free.)

The cars in this movie ruled! There were so many, and they were sooo BADA$$! I even have to love that they gave props to the Muscle Car by including the Charger, and having it run with the same car that toasted the Ferarri. GO MOPAR!

Oh man Paul! You just blew the surprise in the movie!!! Now everyone will know that Paul Walker is really a cop and won't have to spend that minute figuring it out during the opening credits.Seriously though, this movie was absolute crap. It is trying so hard to be cool and hip and phiggidy phat and whatever else, but it is nothing more than a bunch of guys trying to act tough on screen with their jacked up cars. I think I would've enjoyed the movie if they had not have wasted the NOX on their cars and given it to me to breathe during the show.

This movie brings back some memories for me! The Desert Wars scene was filmed at Norton AFB, CA, which was my first duty assignment and which I helped close. This was a C-141 base (I was a Crew-Chief). Those big hangars were our heavy maintenance docks, and about a year before closure, Lockheed purchased about half the hangar space and converted it to a civilian airliner heavy maintenance facility. About this time, PAN-AM had gone belly-up, and parts of the flightline were a storage facility for their 747s. The racing scenes were filmed on the ramp, and flightline. What is funny was during this time there was in fact a LOT OF ILLEGAL STREET RACING going on at Ontario-a few miles away off I-10. Any U.S.A.F. personnel cought at these races was subject to Courts Martial irregardless of whether or not you were racing! I guess Norton is now called San Bernardino Airport (according to the closing credits). Gosh-the stories I have about Norton! The shit that went on in the barracks would make a college frat house look like a bunch of amatures!-NO SHIT! Porkey's and Fast Times look out!San Bernardino also hosts an awsome annual Route 66 ralley and show, which is kind of like Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada. A few years ago, they were trying to locate the cars from American Graffitti. Not that I am into cars or anything - BABY is a '65Falcon 289...
The movie was soso and full of B.S.! Nothing more than an overglorified advertisement for NOS systems and foreign rice rockets!
I had a good laugh a while back when 48Hours or 60 Minutes(?) had a story about illegal street racing in Canada. One of the Dip@#%^*(,
that they featured, who thought he was a real badass, spent some major $$ on a rice rocket and went to have it dyno tested. Well, the engine blew apart on the tester and never even saw a race! Also, on the 10:00 news the other night, there was a story about a couple of illegal street racers on the east coast who crashed and burned (died).
Their race was linked to this movie.

People are trickin up the rice rockets because they are light weight and cheap. Ford did the same (h.p to weight ratio) with the AC Cobra, but at least that was a class act. Too many hip-hoppers think that boom-boxes make the car. Why waste the money on a rice-rocket? They are not worth anything and it is flushing $ down the toilet! Nothin like a chopped and channeled '32Deuce Coupe! The rice-rockets betating those high $$ sports cars is a load of

Sorry, Brad. This is a real summer movie.None of that highfalutin' artsy stuff -- just pure pleasure all the way through. If you sit through the end credits as I do you even get a last surprise scene a la Spy Kids.
See it -- it's GREAT!
BTW, I have an Oscar nomination already -- Vin Diesel for best actor!

Vin Diesel for best actor, well that may be a stretch, but DAMN this flick is super duper EYE CANDY. I saw it again the other day. I disagree with the rice burners being cheap though, a Civic is going to break you 12,000 right off the top. I think its more of a lightweight, and part availability thing. I agree to about lets see what these could do on strait up fuel, sans NOS? I would take the Charger that Vin drives at the end over all them other rides.

To anyone who likes cars and hot girls (like Jordana Brewster, who gets nakey for a split second) this movie is killer, but to anyone else, it really is a dud. Although it played at my theatre for roughly 3 weeks and then left, it did some phenomenal business, mostly with the teenage crowd like myself. Although i don't find muscle cars and SS's that much to mull over. The plot of the movie was so predictable i almost wanted to cry, and the acting really bites. Also, too many kids across the country getting hurt and dying because they think they are Paul Walker or Vin Diesel. What a bunch of morons. Also, the damn 1 1/2 minute thing at the end of the credits was so damn annoying, and pointless. Like we needed a reiteration of Vin saying that he "lives his life a 1/4 mile at a time"? Damn, i was so sick of that.I wish that the studio had left it with the original R rating with the nudity and violence, and that hint of the "F" word that can obviously been seen at least twice in the film dubbed over. I suppose though that the revenue would have been a lot less had it been R rated and the gaggles of 16 year old and 17 year old boys couldn't have seen it 34 times...
