09/28/2002, 2:55PM, Regal Cinema World 8, Eugene OR, #1, digital sound. Very good presentation, flawless print -- no complaints. Attendance about 100. The theater seemed under-staffed: 1 person working concessions, long line; box office cashier was also tearing the tickets, which I thought was a no-no. Regal has the exclusive on "The Tuxedo" around here, yet it was playing in one of the smaller houses. MBFGW is still in one of the largest (not that there's anything wrong with that 
). Go figure.There's a repeating joke in this movie about interpreting the expressions on someone's face. Happy? Sad? Constipated? Roger Ebert was clearly constipated when he wrote his negative review. Yes, it's true that Jackie Chan's stunts are part real and part special effects, and the plot is ridiculous. But I didn't care. This is a slapstic action-comedy comic book. Fun. Forget about the story and just enjoy the action and stunts and it works fine. As usual, Jackie Chan really looks like he's enjoying his work and although this movie may disappoint some of his hard-core fans, the audience I saw it with seemed to enjoy it a whole lot. I will say the 2nd half of the movie worked better for me than the 1st half for whatever reason.

For future reference (say, six months to a year from now) I am guessing that MBFGW is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" right?

I liked this picture too. The writing is horrible, but there are some funny moments, and the action sequences are well choreographed. They are also very well shot and cut. I like this Kevin Donovan guy, and I'd like to see him reteam with his editor and DP to make a movie with a little more script and a little less cheese.
