Eddie Murphy better be checking his rear view mirror: Cedric The Entertainer manages to out-Eddie Murphy Eddie Murphy in this. This is a good film that successfully combines interesting characters, humor, and social commentary, without being heavy-handed as, say, some of Spike Lee's films. I liked it, and the audience seemed to enjoy it. Rev. Jessie Jackson has denounced this film and demanded a few cuts due to some negative comments in it about Rosa Parks and MLK-Jr., though Jackson admitted he hasn't even seen the movie. MGM not only refused to make any changes, but announced that a sequel is already in development. I want to see it.
