Watched it last night for QC purposes (the newbie set it up). Ran it in our SDDS house with a gain of -3.5, which was how I like it, but just a tad too hot for most customers' tastes. The trailers were obnoxiously loud as usual, but what do you expect. Anyway, I liked this movie. It was a new twist to the same old spook movie and someone did a nice job with the surround effects. There is a lot of "quiet" in this movie, and it really helps the surround effects to stand out. Of course there are a few nice startling sounds you always want in a good horror flick laced in with the ever-present dash of obnoxiously loud screams and crap - not too bad in this one overall. I did back the sound processor down to -3.7 for general viewing, but I would recommend not going below that because you will lose some serious amounts of dialog much below that. I thought the picture quality was very good, and there are a couple of totally black scenes in there that are well done and not dark grey or something. I would probably find myself adding this one to my DVD collection when it comes out.

.2 of 1db is not going to make a noticeable difference. The customers themselves being in the theater will deaden it far more.

...and now my review:

This movie was crap. It sucked. It was stupid. The script was uber lame. Been there, seen it, lots 'o yawns. What a waste of time. [sleep]

BTW, clearly this movie was the director's first big entry into mainstream Hollywood movies. You can tell not only by pretty much everything in the entire movie (the way it was made, etc), but the 11 minute credit roll really drives the point home. Hey Mr.Director-whoever-you-are, you do not deserve 11 minutes of end credits! You are not that important and it did NOT take that big of an effort to pull off your movie. Not even Titanic had 11 minutes worth of credits. [Roll Eyes]
