Dear colleagues. In the above movie which came out about 10 years or so ago, I noted an interesting point/mistake in a scene set in the bio box where Aldo is making up the film. Bearing in mind that the time is early 1940`s in a small Italian village, there is a scene in which a modern type tape splicer can be seen on the bench.
Secondly, what type of projector is featured in the movie, it seems odd (to me) that it uses 6000ft spools in those days especially with nitrate film!
Finally, was the story autobiographical and if so whose life is it the biography of?

I didn't notice the tape splicer, I'll have to watch it again (happily). The projector is a Prevost, if memory serves (have to check), and I think you can see a Cinemeccanica V8 through the porthole at the end (when he is in the studio screening room).

I understood the film to be partially based on the life of the screenwriter.

By the way , a new version with more than half hour of restored footage was released a year or two ago.

We've sort of discussed this somewhere before. I remember posting screen shots of the projector.

Here it is! I think we eventually decided that the first was a Prevost and the later one was a Cinemeccanica.

Thanks for that info, Daniel. I'm in line! Adam, you're good, thanks. The first two projectors in the Paradiso were Prevost, then, and the studio projector was a V8 (couldn't really tell through the porthole).
