I wonder if Michael Kamen died of shock at the terrible score he did for this movie. Absolutely awful score. And while it was not a boring movie, it was pretty laughable.

This movie has it all in terms of cheesiness. Poor Actor-Director Charles 'Roc' Dutton did a good job with the HBO series The Corner, but finds himself boxed into one when it comes to coming up with ways to make this movie work.

Meg Ryan now rivals other blonde veteran Hollywood stars like Kidman(awful in Cold Mountain after doing Human Stain) and Uma Thurman(awful in Paycheck after being so great in Kill Bill) in coming up with an awful role to followup a prior edgy role(haven't seen In The Cut, but it couldnt be any worse than this role) in the year.

Meg Ryan is laughable in almost every scene. Her accent his hilarious. Her voice is funnier than usual. she looks like she is about to cry or just got done crying in almost every scene. THe movie even has the obligatory "moment of sullen silence and then clap clap clap by the reluctant but eventually appreciative mob of people in Meg Ryan's honor" at the end. I couldn't even figure out if the character makes any money off the boxer being given to the villain played by Tony Shalhoub(it looked like he was channelling his Spy Kids and MIB roles, except he was supposed to be serious here).

Only reason I went to this movie at a Madstone theater was they had a free screening for members.
