All I can say is...Wow. Definitely expect some Oscar nominations from this one. Ashley Judd may win one for this, as also may Kevin Kline. The writing and direction are EXCELLENT. There was never a dull or boring moment. Made me want to get out all the Cole Porter CD's when I got home. Fantastic.

After adding my 2 cents about Garden State I thought I needed to put in a few more cents about De-Lovely.
I was absolutely blown away by this movie. I was expecting your average biographical dramatization about some quasi-famous musician's life. MAN was I surprised by how uniquely told this story was.
I knew nothing about Cole Porter except a vague knowledge of a song or two, and I saw the movie because I had seen everything else already, but damn was I surprised.
Not that it'll happen, but Kevin Kline deserves some sort of nomination for this, whether it's a Golden Globe or an Oscar, I don't care, but he was EXCELLENT.

Thanks for the good reviews. I was hoping it would be good, as I'm running the trailer now for it and should have it in 2-3 weeks in sub-run. I grew up in a musical home where big band records were always playing, even in the 1960s. Good toe-tapping stuff, and a good movie to present it, sounds like a winner to me.
I've seen Alanis Morrisette (sp?) in concert and she's great no matter what she does, what a set of pipes!
