AUDITORIUM: 3
PRESENTATION: Mystery Meat Digital (mostly)
PRESENTATION PROBLEMS: Audio cut in and out for about a ten minute stretch, then was analog for awhile
RATING: Three stars (out of four)

The Screenvision pre-show video was the clearest and sharpest video I’ve seen on a movie screen yet. Too bad nobody thought to turn the sound on for it. Oooh! Blue dots are soothing.

This is an old Mann plex that was slope last time I was here. It had these ridiculous gray and blue faux columns up and down the auditorium walls with backlit metal winged star sconces and a fiber-optic sparkler effect. Really obnoxious. It’s all still here, but the fiber optics are no longer in operation. Oh...There’s stadium seating now. Hey! These seats are numbered! What the heck...

“The Great Raid” is based on an actual mission to rescue over 500 US soldiers from a Japanese POW camp in World War II. This is NOT Hogan’s Heroes. As war movies go, this is a good one. It’s intimate, intense, and has a great soundtrack.

Uhmmmm. Did we see the same movie?? I thought that this film was terrible. Screw the soundtrack, if I wanna hear music, I'll by the cd not see the movie. Boring film. Why can't stuff like this go directly to video????

Ordinarily, it would have (this was a shelf-sitter for 2 years). But Miramax is dumping a lot of shelved movies between now and September 30, when the Weinstein brothers' contract with Disney expires.
