Today, Cinemark 17 in Springfield, House #5, DTS. OK feature presentation, no complaints.

This movie blows. It's a lame black comedy without enough comedy. Why did they name it "Ice Harvest"? Maybe to fool the old folks into thinking they're gonna see a sequel to "Ice Castles". Man will they ever be surprised. [Razz]

I predict it will be gone from theaters in 2 weeks.

WARNING: Thin ice can result in falling through spoilers

The Plex is in its usual Saturday after Thanksgiving chaotic state. Harry Potter has sold out the first several shows of the day, as has at least one of the "Polar Express" showings at the IMAX. People are crowded about. The lobby sounds like a packed elementary school cafeteria.

My opening line was going to be "Seriously. Is DTS ever going to produce a new trailer?" But I decided to double-check the DTS website and found out that they have indeed come out with a new trailer called "Sparks". Well we didn't get it. We got the original one.

John Cusack plays a "mob lawyer" in Kansas (yes, Kansas) who steals two million from his strip club owner boss in partnership with Billy Bob Thorton. The "ice" is a bit player involved in making the roads slippery and losing three bodies, one of which is actually living when they go in. The act of harvesting ice does not exist in this film as far as I know, although I admit that I'm not sure what "ice harvesting" is, if there is such a thing at all.

It's not quirky or really all that funny, regardless of the reviews out there. Even if I heard some idiot comparing it to "Fargo". Billy Bob isn't in enough scenes to make this worth the bother.

David said it all. It's a lame black comedy without enough comedy.
