I say to the ticket seller "Rumor Has It." She says "That one is selling fast." I thought people would still be busy with Christmas stuff to make it to an 11:35am showing on Christmas day, but sure enough, there's maybe fifteen open seats in the stadium tier twenty minutes before the movie starts. By the time the projector is turned on, the stadium tier has only a couple of open seats, and the slope rows are about half full. It IS a small auditorium with maybe 110-120 seating capacity.

It's immediately apparent to me that the left front channel is out. So I make my way out to the satellite snack bar, which is busy. I spot a guy with a radio sweeping the floor and advise him of the problem. He gets on the radio. The problem is never resolved, but with a movie like this, who cares.

Shirley MacLaine steals every scene she's in. I would have paid just to see her scenes. When she's NOT in the scene, the movie often becomes "March of the Plodding Romantic Comedy" backed by a formula soundtrack straight from The Lite FM. But it's still a trademark Reiner romantic comedy. There are some very funny moments and everybody in the movie except Mark Ruffalo is very likeable. Ruffalo tosses in a little wit early on but is otherwise a complete dope. He and Aniston don't even look like they belong together. Aniston and Costner, however, DO.

It's still enough to make it the best romantic comedy I've seen this year. Not like that would take much...

I liked this film too! Interesting story line, with lots of great one liners. Shirley was hilarious, and definitely steals every scene!
