11:45AM today, Regal Cinema World 8 in Eugene, House #6. Flaky SR●D -- There was an intermittent weird "ticking" or "chirping" sound (esp during the preshow stuff) that's been associated with a very high error rate. Several dropouts to analog for no apparent reason during the feature. Looked good. Attendance: 4.

This is kind of hard to follow. Scenes are intercut and wander all over the place and not everything makes sense until things are wrapped up at the end. It tries to be a little too hip sometimes. But overall I liked it. Lucy Liu is pretty good, but most of the rest of the actors seem to be "acting".

Since I was entertained, it gets 3 out of 5 stars from me.

Obviously that Dolby Digital unit was tracking very badly. Chirps happen when it F's and it didn't drop out for no reason, it dropped out because it couldn't read the track.

As for the movie, I can't wait to see this on DVD for free! However the title of the movie pisses me off.

Yeah, the title pisses me off a bit too. Turn a numeral 7 upside down in a title? And in an obviously FAKE name "Slevin" just so it could somehow fit in the title? Blah.

David Fincher's Sevin was more clever in replacing the "V" with a numeral 7. The title still reads correctly based on word recognition value in type -and seems less obvious.

Oh, the movie? Eh, I may watch it on DVD.

Saw this today at the Fox Theatre #2 in Casper, WY. after completing the booth service there. Presentation was excellent but the print there also had the same chirping effect that Dave's print had. I ran upstairs and the error rate on the DA-20 was 0-1....no F's at all! Go figure on this one.... I suspect defective prints.

I enjoyed this film alot. Sure it seems a bit dis-jointed but in all fairness so does Vertigo till the second half! Well acted... especally by Lucy Liu... and Bruce Willis makes a cool assissan. Bloody and voilent but when its all over you're not left dissappointed. A slick film... almost too slick. 4 stars.

Saw this in Bath, England a month ago at an ODEON multiplex. Good presentation. Costly for me because it cost me more than 13 US Dollars.

Watchable direct to cable movie. Tries to be too clever for its own good. Problem is it's not that clever.

Actually it was "chirping" through everything including the Regal roller coaster. The preshow stuff was the worst, but there was some chirping during the movie too. I should have said the dropouts were from no visible reason like fogging or lab splices. The analog in this house is wacked out too so when digital drops out it's very noticeable.

Since this theater is scheduled for closure/demolition in late 2006, anyone care to bet whether they'll fix this problem? [Wink]

I get an error rate of 2 on my dolby for the trailer pack, but as soon as slevin hits it jumps to 7s, 8s, and Fs. Running in SR for now.

I enjoyed it, but like the others have said it's just alittle to slick.

I've been running this film for the last few months for Press and have had no SRD problems on the many screening prints that I've run.

David - The Eugene Cinemaworld used to be nice. When I worked for Regal - I was sent there during the Act III takeover - to 'retrain' ((brainwash)) the employees. After all, it was the Regal Way - or the Highway......I got to work with Jake Bishop -who was a really nice guy. Although I've heard he has moved over to the Dark Side of the Force..
