What can I say. This movie is AWESOME!!! ...in a very stupid way. So long as you go in there expecting the most retarded shitty movie of the year, or possibly of all time, you won't be disappointed. It is so bad it is actually quite funny.

4 out of 5 stars

I can't wait for the sequel.

Agreed. Pretty entertaining. I've clocked in about 200 hours in playing both Metroids on the Gamecube...Do you think that would consitute me as being a bountyhunter if the chance arose?

Exactly the same thing is to be said about Anchorman and Ricky Bobby. Of course, since I was not allowed to screen it I will have to give my review when the DVD comes out.

Similar to what I had said about Alien vs Predator a while back, they made the best possible movie that they could have considering the subject matter. For the good stuff... You got to love the body count on this one as for the setting allows a good number of people in an enclosed area. Lots of gratuitous violence and gross out moments including certain male and female body parts being singled out (use your imagination).

For the bad stuff... Not enough one liners by Samuel L. Come on that is one of the things I was looking forward to the most. The groan inducing bad lines. The bad part of the setting is that you dont get the usual Bad Ass hero scene where he would go snake hunting with a shot gun (complete with background music and angry determined expression). Otherwise awsome flick. [fu] [fu] [fu] [fu] out of five [fu]

As far a audience reactions goes, it was great fun. I don't usually watch this type of movie, but I did find myself enjoying this film. I agree, not enough one liners. This would be a fun one to turn into an audience participation movie like RHPS. Imagine the props and what would be tossed around the theatre [Eek!]

We held a screaming contest and SLJ impersonation contest before the show started on our stage and gave away all of our official "SOAP" stuff from NL. Had a great time.

It's got snakes, it's got a plane and it's got Sam Jackson. And it is one good time movie.

It is stupid, the plot is weak and predictable and there are huge lapses in logic. IT DOESN'T MATTER! This is just a sit-back-and-enjoy feature.

Things to learn from this picture:

Sex in a plane restroom is a BAD idea.
Hurting a dog is a BAD idea.
Playing video games is a GOOD idea.

The crowd was sparse (not many at the early show at the AMC, but those who went enjoyed the $4 admission), but still cheered when Sam said "THE" line.

Should be fun with a big crowd.

This movies delivered on every expectation. It is the most fun I've had at the movies in an extremely long time. The crowd, well over 100 folks, was totally into it and we had a blast. This is one that demands being seen with a huge crowd. I didn't just like it, I loved it!

Today 8/18/2006, 4:50PM, Regal Cinema World 8 in Eugene, House #3. Attendance about a dozen. Print quality probably irrelevant. Nice presentation.

New Line scores a near-miss in terms of fully exploiting their opportunity to make a truly classically good/bad Grade-B action movie. I don't think they realized what they had until it was too late. No way they ever planned for "Snakes on a Plane" to be the release title. If they'd ratcheted up the toungue-in-cheek aspect just a notch and inserted a few really good one-liners from SLJ, they mighta had "Snakes on a Plane!" instead of just "Snakes on a Plane".

But in any case I give this 4 stars out of 5 because it's a lot of fun and manages to be pretty good for its genre. [thumbsup]

Pointless theater review:
I just saw this movie with the Jen. She had free passes to AMC so that's what enabled us not to wait for the DVD like I usually like to do. We could only choose from AMC theaters, but I must say that this is definitely the best AMC presentation I have ever seen in my entire life and may be the best presentation in all of AMC history. The picture was only marginally out of focus, and only about a foot and a half too far to the right (shadow on the left, picture on the masking on the right) and I think I may have actually heard a bit of subwoofer! The movie only had a bit of dirt and no lab splices. Still no green bands on the trailers and the sound still came from the top of the screen. Overall pretty amazing for AMC. The auditorium had less than 40 people at the 8:00pm Friday show, so maybe people have learned from that theater's past mistakes.

Actual movie review:
This movie was incredibly stupid and that's what makes it enjoyable. I liked the bathroom scenes, I think that's where I first laughed. I would have been very angry had Samuel L. Jackson not said "muthafuckin'", and I was waiting for it. I think they made his line into some sort of rap at for the credits or something. There really isn't too much to talk about with this movie, but you should see it when you are in an extremely silly mood. Don't go in expecting Die Hard or anything. Too much character development... could have been less.

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really enjoyed it when the little rat dog got eaten. That was one of the best parts of the movie. I have no idea what the kickboxer had to do with the main villian, but who cares?

Mr. Jackson was hot, nuff said and the other dude looked like Kurt Russell's son or something. Therefore I wanted him to die... I too indeed likes the restroom scene.

It is not a true AMC presentation without at least one brainwrap. You really can't get your money's worth unless there are two in one show.

Ok The Joe and The Jen, was this in Colorado or Arizona? If you list a presentation review in your movie review, you should list the theater being written about.

This movie is pretty much just a good time. Good wholesome R rated fun.

None the less, I had some 425 people 10pm show. A few of them decided to sneak in nearly 300 small rubber snakes and throw them all over the place during the climax fight snake scene. The operation was well coordinated and saturated the theater within seconds. I've never seen this much audience participation.

Ummmm, this was positively aweful. Yes, it worked somewhat because some of it was just hilarious but it was too long. I saw it in an uncrowded matinee so maybe it would have been more enjoyable with a big audience.

I don't even know how to rate it. Like I said, it was an aweful movie but it was so bad that it was somewhat entertaining. I won't give it a rating, I'll just leave it at that.

Rather hilarious movie, wish there were more one liners though too.

The best part was afterwards asking the projectionist how he fixed the warbly sound in the beginning (because my theater has the same problem) and him taking us up into the booth and showing us a single well placed toothbrush.

I went out and bought a "35mm sound alignment tool" as soon as I left the theater [Cool] .

It could not possibly have been the best because there was no brainwrap. AMC patrons look forward to them. In fact, AMC urges "projectionists" to screw up more often so the customers can buy more concessions without missing much of the movie.

To be honest I don't think I've ever seen a brainwrap when I've been a member of a real audience anywhere. I only saw them on my shifts as a projectionist right after the mid day shift change when Ian opened, he left, and fun ensued! [Razz]

RATING: Three stars (out of four)

You pay a two dollar premium to see movies in this room, which means you're paying the same thing the local AMC's charge for all their auditoriums.

For the extra two bucks you get what is basically Auditorium 13 at Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons, but with different decor and Klipsch surrounds (28 for those wagering). And they play classical music before the show. It's a little loud, and it sounds HORRIBLE. It sounds like a low bitrate MP3. The feature sounded way better than "Little Miss Sunshine" did yesterday.

Nonetheless, in comparison to the other auditorium in this building I've seen a movie at, it's worth the two bucks.

THE PLOT: Some guy witnesses a murder and is dumb enough to tear off on his noisy bike instead of just hiding till the bad guys leave. They somehow figure out who he is and decide to off him too. The feds also somehow figure out who he is and corral him as a witness. They have to fly to Los Angeles from Hawaii for the trial. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

The audience I saw this with had every bit as much fun watching it as others have noted previously. It was full of holes and absurdities, but it moved along quickly and obviously didn't take itself seriously enough that nobody cared.

Yes, this audience did pop for Jackson's big line.

I agree with everyone.

This was a GREAT film, in a weird way. Just great fun all around. I really didn't want to get up to refill my soda because I was afraid I'd miss something.

And the eye candy!!!

Definately an 8 overall for the Greco scale...

I found myself saying DAMN, alot through it all...

A fun movie, marred by some presentational issues:

DLP at Mann's Chinese 6, Theatre #2...

Bad keystoning from super high-angle booth, exacerbated by curved screen.
Image slightly tilted (titles on trailers and movie not parallel to top/bottom of screen).
Possibly also a slight twist in the anamorphic lens; hard to say for sure with all the other image problems going on.

All of the night-time exterior shots of the van in the scene where the snake expert is introduced seemed low-res with strobing.

Location: Cinemark at Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, Auditorium 6. 4:30pm show, August 30. 35mm projection. Sound format: DTS (I think).

This was a fun movie for what it was, although I wish the choreography of the snakes biting the passengers had been handled better. Some of the bites were happening in too rapid fire of fashion and it reminded me of the blurry who-knows-what-the-fuck-is-going-on fight scenes in the horribly directed Bourne Supremacy.

The nudity? Very nice. Pretty funny with what happened next. And the guy trying to take a leak with the snake coming up out of the toilet was pretty funny too.

I noticed the really shitty image quality on those van scenes as well. It looked like it was videotaped, rather than filmed. There was a really really bad 3:2 pulldown sort of herky jerk when the van stopped in front of the snake expert's apartment. Just awful.

I probably would have enjoyed this movie more had it not been for some rather aggravating presentation problems.

1. The projection sucked ass. Sure, the image was reasonably bright (at least a lot brighter than that very dim Cinemark First Look video thingie before the feature). But the damned image was badly keystoned on the screen. It was like a projected parallelogram slanting downward from left to right. On top of that, this was a fixed width auditorium with vertical masking. Guess what? About 15% of the freaking image at top was projected onto the curtains. And there was a nice blank space on the bottom of the screen. Yay! The projection port was way the hell above the last row of seats in this stadium seated auditorium. I could barely see the DTS reader up there. 2. On the sound end of things, I heard plenty of stuff happening in the surrounds. But the stage speakers were pretty harsh sounding and overall everything seemed badly compressed. I couldn't help wonder if someone forgot to thread the DTS reader. It sounded very much like badly overdriven analog. Blah.

What amazes me futher is this theater has an IMAX-3D screen, which usually delivers pretty damned good show quality (so long as they're not showing something originally shot on fucking video). With such a high end room on the north end of the complex one would think perhaps maybe more attention to detail should be given to the other rooms so as not to have such a tremendous difference in show quality.

9/07/06 - Cambridge Premier Cinemas, auditorium #2:

Finally got to sit down and watch this entire film. Of course the 2500 watt xenon bulb thrown onto the curved screen with Dolby Digital Sound made it a premium presentation. The Stadium seating helped too.

I loved it. I found myself laughing out loud during quite a number of scenes. It seemed to get better in the last two reels, and the landing of the plane was by far the funniest part of the movie. I could tell on the parts where they layed in new audio portions and scenes, but since they made the film better - I didn't mind it so much. I liked this film and will buy the DVD.
