I have to ask how many people were in the showing you went to, because this just isn't typical. Every single time I've checked the auditorium over the last week, I have heard most of the audience laughing at many different parts of the movie.

As for your spoiler question, it simply wasn't explained and that's just fine. There were many many questions left unanswered in this movie and it's better for not trying to answer all of them.

I laughed the entire way through, as did the 150 odd people in the late show I saw. So many funny situations along with down-to-earth and believable characters makes for a great film. Really surprised at how good this was. And Heather Graham looks fantastic, cannot believe she is 39.

Also does anyone know what happened to the chicken?

I thought there was less here than met the eye initially. A bunch of good lines and manic scenes (don't open a car's trunk if you don't know what's in there) interspersed with lame codas that don't string it together.

But do stay for the credits. I bet without the wedding and pix at the end the film would not have done as well at the BO or with reviewers. There are sporadic laughs throughout the film but when the credits happen people laugh for three minutes solid. Me too.

We are playing this now. I thought it was pretty good but not "the funniest movie of the decade" like some people are calling it.

One thing that helps me decide if a movie is any good or not is whether it has any completely unbeleiveably stupid situations that make no sense. This movie has two majors:

1. The cop car. Why the hell did the valet at the hotel say "Here's your car, officers" when the guys looked absolutely nothing like officers, and in fact looked like hung over beaten up party boys?

2. The doctor's office. No doctor with a license or a staff would allow three hung-over beaten-up party boys to come into an exam room with a naked male patient getting a rectal exam.

I also thought the "dildo" part at the end was completely out of place even if it was a dildo. The audience isn't supposed to think it's a dildo! This is something that's not supposed to be shown in an R film. I suppose they got away with it because it's shown in still pictures.

Anyway: I enjoyed it in spite of the dopey moments. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Paul L.: Are there any strippers in Vegas who are as genuinely goodhearted as the Heather Graham character in this movie?

We opened it Friday night to a large crowd but Saturday l evening show it brought over 800, Sunday late 650+, week nights 400-500. They laugh so hard we're having to turn the sound up so they can hear over the laughter.

Well, between rules of the Afterlife forum and this forum I don't really know where to post this review. It is post-theatrical release and seen from the home video angle. But next to no one posts movie reviews in The Afterlife forum anyway. They just append the DVD/Blu-ray reviews here. So that's what I'm doing. And here goes.

The movie itself: pretty funny. Worth at least one viewing. Three stars. The show has some reasonably good laugh out loud moments. And I like Heather Graham. She's very hot.

I don't post a lot of reviews so there's usually a very good or very bad comment I have to make about the show. In this case, I have to tee-off angrily on Warner Home Video and their retarded new slate of rental-oriented Blu-ray discs.

Honestly, it wasn't 1 minute after I inserted the disc of The Hangover into my PS3 that I was wanting to take my pickup truck's Maglite™ and bash in the skull of the Hollywood "suit" who dreamed up this rental-oriented BD-disc bullshit. Oh, man, I was pretty damned mad about this. I even scared myself a bit. And that's pretty bad.

I rented the disc from our local Hastings Books Music and Video store. The disc had an obvious "rental" label incorporated into the disc artwork. WB had this disc specifically authored and packaged for video stores only. Hastings had a few other WB titles with similar "rental" markings. The latest Terminator installment was on the shelves in this form.

Previously, when you insert a BD from Warner Bros. into your PS3 or standalone BD player the disc goes straight into the movie. That's actually kind of cool. Right to the point. The rental oriented discs don't do that. Instead, at least with The Hangover BD rental, you're forced to watch several movie trailers. You cannot chapter past them. That function is disabled. There is no main menu. There is no pop-up menu. You're stuck with fast forwarding. You even have to fast forward past a lame-ass AXE Body Spray commercial. Yeah, only if women were so stupid to give up their sweet nasty asses just because you put on some Goddamned body spray! WTF!? This is the new VHS-flavor of Blu-ray brought to you by Warner Home Video, a company well known for finding ways to do high definition wrong!

Anyway, from here on out, I'll make a focused effort to never ever rent a movie from a Warner studio ever again. At least not while this bullshit persists. Just a clue to the suits out there: if you want me to buy the Blu-ray version why not make it possible for me to test drive the damned thing!? I have at least a few BDs in my collection I rented before buying. But I really will NOT buy The Hangover on Blu-ray or any other rental-oriented BD from Warner Home Video.

Really, if I truly want bare bones only content, I'll just wait for your damned WB movie to show up on HBO. I'll record the thing on DVR and see it pretty much the same way...waxy DNR'ed faces and all!

I think movie reviews should go here no matter what method was used to watch them. You are reviewing a movie so it should go in the Movie Review forum.

Thanks for the heads up about the rental thing. I was going to rent the Hangover, but now I will not. I guess I will spend the rest of my life having never seen this movie.

Given you live in the Denver metro area it's possible some video stores are renting the retail version of The Hangover instead of the stupid rental version. Just avoid the discs that have a big "RENTAL" thing at the bottom of the cover art and on the disc.
