Being a huge fan of time travel books and movies, I had to go see this.

Read the book, don't go see the movie.

I thought it sounded like a stupid move from the title and premise, and the clips of the trailer I glimpsed off of TV.

From up in the booth, without sound, I thought "What gorgeous cinematography! Even if the film sucks, I am going to have to go see this, just for the beautiful visuals."

Went to see it and, literally, all of the gorgeous visuals in the film were included in the trailer.

And my initial impressions were confirmed "Oh, it's a love story." or not, this film really lacked any depth to it at all. Maybe it's great if you want to neck with your girlfriend in the back row, but then again, so is just about anything [Roll Eyes]

Also, why on Earth did this film need an E-Film DI? Hardly SFX heavy. Thankfully, that didn't detract too much from the visuals.

I agree with Dennis, the book is much better. The movie is too rushed and they leave out way too many key scenes to allow for proper character development.

Well it's a fairly enjoyable romance with an interesting premise (he has a time travel gene - apparently) but one can't help but wonder what could have been done with this material had the script crossed the desk of, say, Nolan or Fincher or maybe even Cronenberg; someone who could do something with such a high concept premise. As it is, the time travel idea is merely a narrative tool to bring one woman's lover in and out of her life involuntarily. And for a time travel story, the narrative is remarkably linear.

Having said that, Bana is solid and fuck me if I couldn't just sit there and stare at a picture of Rachel McAdams for two hours.

Worth a look if you're into romantic weepies.
